I still think that a lot of this Fox at 2 or 3 is a smoke screen.

No matter how good his shot may look in workouts, I find it hard to believe that a team in the top 3 would pass on Lonzo Ball and Josh Jackson for a point guard who shot only 24% from 3 point range.

In the new NBA, teams picking that high will want a more proven 3 point shooter. There is a lot of copycating in the NBA and if you look at who has been in the NBA finals for the past 3 years, I think teams would want a proven 3 point shooter at point guard if they are drafting top 3.

Therefore, I think Fox will be taken in the 4 or 5 range.

Not to any big market team either. We would develop him and then hand him to the 7akers. Screw everything that has to do with that.

Agreed. We get our choice between Tatum or Isaac if we want one of those two. I'm not holding my breath for Fox and definitely don't want to give up both first rounders to get him.

Yep, by most accounts Fox is seeming less likely at 5. I'm currently leaning Isaac at 5 and I hope Donovan Mitchell makes it to Sacramento for a workout. If Mitchell can showcase his lead guard capabilities he and Buddy could be a good pairing down the road.

What has Isaac shown you that makes you think he will be a start at most a josh smith. Tatum can be a go to player who can step up in big games.

I'm not giving up. If the Kings really like him, they can still get him. They have the ammo to do so w/o giving up any player they really don't want to part with.

I don't pretend to have any idea how much Vlade, Perry and Catanella like him, but let's say they for sake of argument that they really have their eyes set on him -- they'll get him. But I have the feeling that they are willing to take whatever falls to them w/o giving up any assets whatsoever. I just worry that it'll end up being Jayson Tatum at #5 which I don't like at all.

It seems like a lot to give up but I can look at it this way, essentially we traded DeMarcus for Buddy and Fox. Most likely neither one of those two would be here without the trade. Those two as our future backcourt sound pretty good at the moment and combined with the rest of our youth movement we have an exciting team.

This is wildly unpopular but I actually think next years draft has more star power, it's more top-heavy if you will.. To me Fox is one of the gems of this class, he's got real star power. the justification for trading up for him is as simple as that - He's got franchise player written all over him.

Perhaps your right about next years draft. From what I know of it it appears loaded with bigs regardless if we go full youth movement this year, next years pick should be high and we can either address our SF need then if not in this draft.

nbadraftnet needs an update but currently has both Ojeleye and Anunoby going after 34, not likely but stranger things have happened.

I agree, but those 2 names Mitchell and Markkanen are in very different tiers IMO. I've gotta say I'm perplexed about the seemingly overwhelming indifference to Lauri here. I think he's got a chance to be a 20+ PPG scorer in the league and could be one of the real gems of this class. I have him 6th on my board right now.

SF, other than Michael Porter Jr isn't the strength at all, as you said it's the bigs, the next several years will be loaded with forwards I'm quite sure about that. There's also 2 very nice PG prospects Trevon Duval and Collin Sexton. There's a handful of crazy talented bigs including sophomore (and De'Aaron Fox's old AAU teammate) Robert 'The Rocketeer' Williams at Texas A&M whos a freak athlete at 6'10 of the highest order. Bamba, Ayton, Doncic are some real heavy hitters. I freaking love Jaren Jackson Jr and Mitchell Robinson too, who's got some Hassan Whiteside like athleticism..
 
It's sounding more and more unlikely that Fox will be there at 5.

My worst fear would be that both Fox and Tatum are gone at 5. Jackson does not feel me with a great deal of confidence as the all star level player

Jackson would be a jackpot scenario. I'm certain of it, he'd bring a much needed edge to the table, he's ferocious.. Especially if Papagiannis is gonna be good, and Skal's gonna keep improving. Jackson throws post-entry passes like a PG. He'd function as prime Shawn Marion type of player defensively, he'd be a major piece to the puzzle IMO, it's extremely unlikely he's on the board at 5 though. I'm not as confident in Jackson's 3pt stroke as Fox's but the Kings have a lot of firepower to surround him with.
 
Hype is too real at this point. Fox is going 3 or 4 and we will need to trade up to get him. I will give up the 10 to get him and be thrilled. If we can't trade up I guess I'd take Isaac at 5 and hope Frank or Dennis is available at 10.

That would probably be the best case realistic scenario.

I am not convinced that either of them can be considered as a leader but at least they have the all-star level potential. Fox is a guy who is just a damn leader but a player with some serious potential too.

Absolutely. That would be the #1 scenario for me if we miss out on Fox. Tatum and Frank would be a decent consolation prize as well. If we can land an Isaac, Smith or Frank with the #10 pick, I'd consider it a heck of a draft. I'd rather have Fox and one of the guys we don't need like Markkanen or Collins because that's how high I am on Fox but the other two scenarios would still make me a happy camper.

I disagree that the Kings have a lot of firepower. One of the knocks of the Kings post Cousins' trade is their inability to score when team pick up the defensive intensity. They don't have the go to guy.

Shawn Marion is nice and all but he is a complementary piece and not THE piece. The Kings need THE centerpiece and then the rest can be added much easier.

It's not just Porter at SF. Doncic and Knox are studs. All three have NBA bodies and great NBA athleticism for the position. It's a huge reason I do not mind moving up this year. Between those three and Bridges we can find a stud SF next year. This year needs to be about getting Fox, Fultz or Ball. We've got to have our PG in place so that the foundation can be set. I hate chasing talent and a position of need, but that's the spot we are in.

Fair enough, 'a lot of firepower' is certainly a relative term when playing in the same conference as the Warriors.

I'm kinda projecting ahead when I say that, especially with Skal and Big George, Bogdanovic, Richardson, the 10 and 34 pick. There's also a sizeable chunk of capspace that can be used to add firepower.

I stand corrected. I do think the crops of SF's will be stronger in the proceeding years though, I'm rather certain. I'd also classify Doncic as a swingman that's primarily a SG, who's also capable of flexing to the PG and SF spots.
