Darko to be had for a top 10 pick?

If this is the case then I think he is worth the risk. If we end with say a the 8th pick I would trade it for Darko.

The Mavericks started their 11-game winning streak when they benched Erick Dampier, now officially the most overpaid big man. . . . Begging last week for trades: Denver's Earl Watson, Toronto's Eric Williams and Seattle's Danny Fortson. The talk is a top-10 draft pick will give you a shot at Detroit's Darko Milicic. . . . Struggling Washington seems a likely candidate to make some moves with Antonio Daniels, Etan Thomas and Brendan Haywood having indifferent seasons. . . . The Knicks have become a tabloids' field day with these screaming headlines last week: "Kobe vs. Quitters!" "Sex Suit!" "I Don't Love This Woman!" and "Love Child!"

I don't know if his value is that high. I'm looking at some of these teams that are on pace for a top 10 pick and I can't think of justification for any of those teams to give up the pick for Darko who's even more of a risk than he was on Draft Day in 2003 because he's been in the league and shown hardly anything.

That's the problem with Darko, Detroit wants to undo the mistake they made by drafting him so high by getting a high pick which nobody will give them and Detroit has no incentive to get rid of him on the cheap. They're stacked and they don't need anything really.

Such a shame though. Worst case scenario for Darko is that he turns out to be just another Primoz Brezec. And that is not such a bad thing. And he is not even 21 yet.

It's an interesitng proposition. The draft has a dearth of talented big men -- other than LaMarcus Aldridge and maybe Tiago Splitter, are you really going to get as talented and athletic a big man as Darko with a top 10 pick? If you are committed to getting a young big man it might just be worth it. It would be a major risk though.
