He isn't worth our expirings...his trade value is LOW...I'd only deal for him if it meant we got rid of Kenny Thomas...remember the Bucks were the team that ALMOST traded Desmond Mason to us for Kenny. Which would've allowed us to keep Bobby Jackson and Greg Ostertag, because I doubt we would've traded for Bonzi then..

Depending on what else would be in the works, I would probably do it. In the right set of circumstances, expirings could be very valuable, but the great majority of expirings simply expire. Unless it was simply a salary dump in which case our expirings could have 'value,' I don't see why they would do it with what the Kings would have to offer.

I look at it like this, what can you spend the money on? Opportunity cost scenario. Would I replace Gadz deal with Kenny's ABSOLUTELY. Would I replace Gadz salary with the potential of being able to use the MLE without going over, ABSOLUTELY NOT. He's not that good. He'd be a nice player to have on the team, but at the right cost and that cost is Kenny Thomas. We add a year in contract terms, but we lose a million or two off of salary each year and fill a need. Kenny for Gadz is a win-win scenario...gadz for expirings is more of a bucks win.

I guess you missed the part 'depending on what else is in the works.' Despite what the Maloof's have said to the contrary, I think actions the last several years give the indication that the Luxery Tax line is a point they won't cross unless it's a slam dunk. What your proposing is a win-win for the Kings and IMHO I don't really see what is in it for them.

It just depends on what the intentions of management are going forward. If you are over the salary cap you only have one MLE to use and that is not enough to fill all the holes barring trades. If you could do this and leave yourself enough flexibility to use the MLE and do trades, it leaves one less hole to fill.

That's basically what I was saying...?

^^ In a heartbeat a BIG NO. I'd like a 3 way deal that sends Kenny to Mil, Gadzuric to a 3rd team and some short contracts to the Kings, but I doubt I'd do a swap Kenny Thomas-Gadzuric (I haven't seen Gadzuric enough, but based on the Bucks games I saw, it's a NO too) so no way SAR-Gadzuric.

Gadzuric is a legit Center and although the length is bad it would be easier to move than Thomas. Kenny is an undersized PF with a bad contract that nobody wants....I'd get rid of him for a bag of nuts.

It sounded by this quote you would do it for Kenny and Kenny only. What is bolded sure gave the indication that you wouldn't do it if it could interfere with the use of the MLE in terms of the luxery tax. Absolutely is a very strong word.

Not really sure what either of you are talking about. Regardless of what happens it would either be Kenny's salary or Gadzuric on our cap next season so it seems like a moot point. We are still losing about 12 mill in salary so we should have the MLE to spend(if we are indeed over the cap and we won't know that until 07/07) so I'm not sure what either of you are worried about.

It's just a guestion of willingness to use expirings to get him or if would have to be Thomas. I would love a deal exchanging Thomas for him but I have my doubts on their willingness. Frankly, I would be willing to do any of the three including your suggestion using SAR (assuming he isn't involved in a different deal).

Gadzuric wouldn't be the answer in any shape or form, but he could be another piece to this puzzle of a team that actually fits.

As far as being worried, not a problem there as with any of the deals discussed, they either happen or don't. And if we are talking about them, there is a far better chance of it not happening.

Even if we did use expirings to get Gadz we would probably still be looking at the same amount of salary next year as we have this year even if we do use the MLE in the off season. Either way I think we all agreed that we desperately need an athletic big.

For what I've seen, Gadzuric is as legit C as Potapenko. Not sure Gadzuric is easier to move than Thomas.

I don't even know if I'd trade Kenny Thomas for him at this point. Gadzuric has looked seriously terrible this year -- like, borderline belonging in the NBA/not belonging in the NBA, and his contract is only slightly better than Kenny's. I guess I'd do that deal, but I wouldn't be that excited about it.

Circumstances may have changed for him. Last year I believe he was having a much better one and there were a number here pushing to get him.

On a seperate note, it would be ironic if the Kings swapped SAR for him. If I recall, before SAR signed with the Nets he had turned down something like a $49 million deal with the Bucks. He reportatly turned them down because he felt he had a better chance to make the playoffs with Nets. When the Nets failed him in his physical, he took the Kings as second choice. It would be ironic for him to end there and have it come full circle.

I couldn't get excited about trading him for enders, who, if they do nothing else, offer the possibility that we will be able to re-sign guys we want to keep over the next couple of years. But I'd be happy to trade him for KT, since he fits our roster needs better, and I have no reason to believe he'd be the drag on team morale that KT is said to be. And think of the reduction in TOs. Gadzuric may not make a big positive impact, but his net impact is still slightly positive, and I'm not sure that I can say that of KT lately.

Shareef and hart for Gadzuric and Williams. then we do the orlando trade Bibby for Hill
No way in hell they give up Mo Williams!! I'd say Gadzuric might be 'easier' to attain for a veteran guy like Shareef...plus their contracts match up perfectly...so I'd be happy with that trade, if it happened. Doubt the Orlando thing would ever transpire.

Sometimes, that is the value of expiring contracts. They provide financial flexibility.

I mentioned it earlier too. If we don't make any changes to our roster, let the expiring expire, and just sign our draft picks (not even the MLE), we shall be potential tax payers in 2008 after extensions for Kevin and Ron kick in (assuming Ron opts out and resigns at a higher salary). Dan's 6.25M salary shall become equivalent to 12.5M then. Does anyone think he is worth that?

From a strictly financial point of view, we should not trade him for our expiring. Don't know much about his game to comment on trading him for one of our vets. However, in John Hollinger's column today on ESPN, he is listed as one of the most disappointing players for the season.
