"That's the first time in seven years I've ever seen anybody throw Peja an alley-oop," coach Rick Adelman said of his ground-bound Serbian shooter.

Here's the full context....

Bonzi Wells lofted an alley-oop pass toward Peja Stojakovic, who clearly had no intention of going up to get it. Stojakovic somehow saved the wild throw, flipping it back to Wells -- who dropped it out of bounds. The Sacramento Kings are still getting to know each other, but both Stojakovic and Wells could afford to laugh. Their blooper-reel folly was just about the only miscommunication in a smooth 103-82 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night.

"I thought he pointed up (at the basket), like, 'Throw it,'" Wells said with a grin and a shrug. "Maybe I was seeing things."

"I was pointing at the floor. Bounce pass," Stojakovic cracked.

"That's the first time in seven years I've ever seen anybody throw Peja an alley-oop," coach Rick Adelman said of his ground-bound Serbian shooter.

2 "shortest book" candidates right there

"Way to learn the strengths and weaknesses of your teammate" by Binzi

"play above the rim" by Pedja

If Peja ever makes an alley oop he should get a max contract :)

That was too funny last night. Seeing Bonzi's look afterwards and Peja's surprised look. Priceless.

Now that we're done laughing about it, am I really the only one who finds the idea of Peja actually completing an alley-oop worth dreaming about?

;)

i just wish i coulda seen it for myself( the attempt of course, not the dream:D )

he would deserve a max contract if he could complete an alley-oop with sime regularity.... it doesnt have to be flashy, just 2 points....

Anyone know where the term alley oop comes from? Watching Peja's attempt last night, I know why the oop is there, but what about the alley? :)

We actually had a thread about this a while back... I'll see if I can find it.

;)
