Cousins to undergo medical procedures before Olympics

“I have some decisions to make before the end of the season. I’ve got to get some procedures done on my body -- on my feet, we’ll see,” Cousins said. “I’ve been playing with tendonitis in my feet all season. That’s why you see me walking up and down funny. Hopefully this procedure goes well and I can start preparing for Team USA.”

Cousins told reporters he is planning to undergo Platelet Rich Therapy on his feet, and potentially shockwave therapy as well. The recovery for the procedure is normally four to six weeks.

If Cousins is planning on all that treatment he should rest the rest of the way. No need to continue to let Karl run his wheels off.

I know Rondo is playing for a new contract but the last thing he needs is an injury in meaningless games. Rondo should let what he has done speak for him and shut it down also. Gay can rest also. Play the bench and bring up some guys on 10 day deals to finish out the season. They can start planning for Summer League.

If Karl wants to pad his win total let him do it with D League guys playing. Should have done this when they did not fire him.

That should help keep the pick in Sacto. Just take the BPA or possibly trade the pick for the BPA.

Actually, rather than just rest till the end of the season, go ahead and have the procedure done now. That will give him more tome to recover for the USA team.

Rest those tired/sore legs and feet Big Man. These last games mean very little.

No, as long as he's not injured, he has to be out there. Some part of this team will be back next year, Cuz has to not quit. His national rep is also always a question. He'll have months of rest for tendonitis if he wants it.

Kings fans have really quit long before this team has. Despite everything, parts of it continue to try in spurts and fits, and not for all the tea in China would I send the message that that is wrong. If we're set to lose that pick on the last game of the season, then might be time for a treatment day. But these are the last games in this building, and Cuz playing potentially matters for his rep, for Vlade, for Rondo and other FAs etc.

I'd sit if I was Cuz.....I highly doubt that there is anything to be gained at this point.....or lost. Assure the draft pick stays, tell Karl to go eff himself and then go be a good teammate the remainder of the year, while forcing Karl to play WCS minutes.

I'd welcome him sitting the rest of the way but I don't see it happening so therefore I hope his minutes are limited at least.

Well OK, rest the away games:)

I understand the die hard attitude and respect those that have it. Makes you wonder why Pop rests his guys in season. Perhaps rest is a weapon also? If a player can play and there is no risk for injury then lace them up and go for it. I was understanding Boogies feet were hurting and continued stress is a detriment. Only the Big Fella knows. Either way, GO KINGS!

Pop rests his guys because his focus is always on winning in the postseason above all else.

The calculation is whether it pays bigger dividends to have his older players fight for another win against a tough team on the second night of a back to back or give them the night off on hopes that they are fresher and more injury free for the playoffs.

Resting a guy on a team eliminated from the playoffs is much more about pseudo tanking.

So if a player has x number of games in him (for his career) why waste them in meaningless games playing for a Coach that is going to get fired? The possibility of losing the Draft Pick is also real. I think the attitude to play to the finish line is good but the Big Fella can barely run or jump. How would you play it if it was your feet and you weighed 270?

I'd be fine with resting Boogie on the second night of a back to back. I'm not fine with shutting him down (if he feels he can still go) for the remainder in order to tank.

If Cousins says he hurts too much to keep playing then you let him get the procedures done next week.

In short, Cousins is a competitor and is let him decide whether to keep playing this season. And I'm guessing he'd play.

What about the fans that have paid for tickets? Don't they deserve the best team on the floor?

The focus for the rest of the season must be to get our supposed front court of the future as much time to gel as possible. So if we plan to keep Cousins and to pair him with Willie, why throw away valuable game experience? Even if Cuz plays, we won't lose our pick.
And as a fan of the Kings I couldn't care less about a meaningless olympic tournee. All I care about is the next season, where my Kings make another run to end this post season nightmare.

They deserve the best team available on the floor. I'd rather Cuz shut it down and not risk injury. Fans can enjoy WCS getting 30 minutes and developing.

Ha! If I was Cuz, I'd play whether it is good for him physically or not. :) Given everything at stake, I'd say slow down, Big Guy.
