Prospect
Let me first start by saying, I've been against us trading Cousins and would love to have him stay on the Kings. That said, I think this trade would leave the Kings with a solid and exciting team for years to come, and I really don't trust our front office to make it work with Cousins, in fact, I almost feel like too much damage has been done with that relationship.
Kings Out:
DeMarcus Cousins
Carl Landry
Eric Moreland
Kings in:
Ty Lawson
Kennith Faried
Jusuf Nurkic
Jameer Nelson
7th Pick in Draft
If the Kings were then able to draft Cauley-Stein and Mudiay, we would be stacked with valuable pieces to improve our SG position as well. New line-up:
Starters
C: Cauley-Stein
PF: Faried
SF: Gay
SG: Ben Mac
PG: Lawson
Bench
Nurkic - Backup C
Thompson - Backup PF
Casspi - Backup SF
Stauskas - Backup SG
Collison - Backup PG
Mudiay
Ray Mac
Nelson
Obviously this leaves us with way too many PGs, but with the ability to do something like package Stauskas/Collison for an upgrade at the SG position. Almost every Cousins trade I've heard makes me want to never watch a Kings game again, but I would actually be excited to see this team. I think its a pretty deep team and a young one as well. Nurkic finished third in ESPN’s Defensive Real Plus Minus metric this past year, and on the second All-Rookie team. Pairing him with Cauley-Stein would be beasts defensively and this team would "fit" the George Karl style with Faried, Gay, Ben Mac, and Lawson all working in a system with "pace". Trade also works on ESPN's trade machine.
From Denver's perspective, pairs Cousins back with Malone, but leaves them with not much else. Not sure if they would do it...would any of you do this? And please don't hit me with the bat for even suggesting this Brick...
