Cousins max deal or trade?

I'm gonna disagree with all you guys. He hasn't earned it, he doesn't get it. He can play for it if he wants it. If I remember correctly, the Kings can give him the longest and largest contract anyways when the time comes. I hope he becomes a max player, but in three years he hasn't.

I guess what I'm saying is I won't blame the Kings for not signing him yet. If they do, GREAT it's not my money, but when I put myself in the shoes of the ones writing the checks I can see why they wouldn't and I wouldn't.

I can't help but notice that you've been registered here for seven years, and only have around seventy posts. Based on that, I can't help but wonder whether you've spent most of the past seven years in suspended animation?

Cousins is going to get that money because he's a legit big with touch, range, handle, and a post game. Naw, I used to post at kingstalk all the time when I was younger and had more time. I was reading about the draft, listened and called into Grant's today, and was in the mood to talk/type basketball. I don't post very often.

Which gives us Tyreke's max contract being $5,251,825 x 250% = $13,129,563 starting salary.

And DeMarcus being $4,916,974 x 250% = $12,292,244 starting salary.

The 250% is the cap hold i.e. if the player is a restricted free agent that amount counts against your cap until the players rights are waived or the player is signed. As far as the max salary:

Somewhere around 14.5 million more than likely to start. It depends on the cap, which is specified in early July. Then it I think 5% year over year with a 5th year. The exact number won't be known until the moratorium on free agent signings is lifted, which was July 10th last year. Since DMC does not apply for the Derrick Rose rule, he can't make the real max. If he becomes as good as many of us think he will, we actually will be getting a bit of a deal because of that.
