Has anyone heard an update on his hip injury? It was described by the announcers based on info from the trainer that he had a left hip flexor injury. That can be a major problem or I suppose it doesn't have to amount to much at all.
MY concern is that a hip flexor injury is what happened to Carl Landry and resulted in surgery. I don't think there has been a followup report and it has been 5 days or so. What's up?
In my view, no injury is minor until proven otherwise. As a physician I would rather over shoot my views as to the severity of an injury than undershoot and send a guy back on the court prematurely. I'll bet people yawned when I expressed concerns about Tyreke's foot and ankle problems.
When Boogie got injured, I had a modest explosion of indignation. Times may have changed but I was always taught that any injury requires 6 weeks for complete healing at a minimum. That means a broken bone or a slight sprain. Rehab can make a lot of difference as to how long an athlete must be kept from playing. Someone else, in reference to the Jan. 22 sprained ankle, mentioned that people with injuries in one part of their body tend to favor that injury which can lead to an injury elsewhere. Whether that's what happened or not, Boogie's left ankle sprain was on the same side of his body as the present left hip flexor problem. That may be simply coincidence but it is also possible that Boogie's left hip flexor problem was caused because he was favoring his left ankle.
Right now I want to know if he can play. I think our record sucks a great deal when he isn't on the court. Maybe this will be the time when his injury will be treated like the Spurs treated Robinson's injury many years ago.
