Good luck in houston Ron, beat LA for us!:)

Yes, beat LA or slowly destroy Houston from the inside so they end up giving us a lottery pick :D

"He always sweats until the agreement has been approved by the league attorneys, which is expected to happen about 2:30 p.m. on Thursday."

Countdown to 2:30PM!

according to the blog, sean singletary and pat ewing jr is included in the trade? i hope singletary is not included.... there is no reason salary cap wise to include them....

i sure would hate for us to include singletary as a non neccessary throw-in player and he becomes a good back up point guard for houston....

The word is that Houston will accept them and then immediately cut both, so it's not that they're interested in them as players. It's for luxury tax purposes, so the only thing that makes sense is the portion of those contracts that are guaranteed are putting us over the limit.

It was also said that that part of the deal wasn't in stone, and this issue could be resolved another way; Houston isn't asking for those players, they're doing us the favor. Hopefully there's some other deal in the works to shed a bit of salary, because I'd rather hang on to Singletary as well, even if it's only in the D-League. I guess we'll see in a few hours.

In the spirit of continuing the drama, although I personally had my own little "farewell to Artest" celebration last night at 12:01 a.m., I've altered the thread title. Let's just hope the attorneys don't drag their feet.

Brickie? I fully expect you to call in any and all favors with your peers to "get er done!"

It's almost 3 pm eastern time....does this means the trade is official?!

How about quickly?

I can see it now, TMac and Yao go down with their annual injuries, leaving the Rockets as Artest's team. He quickly gets comfortable with this, only to have TMac and Yao return. Thus the implosion begins :D

great post sackings7

I think that you're probably right, and due to the fact Artest really is "good" for about half a season would put the timing perfectly with Yao's feet and T-Mac's back.

Further breaking news:

Artest swears he didn't realize it was a pit bull. He blames his soon-to-be former new agent, David Bauman, for the whole incident.

Stranger things have happened. I have been a little suprised how many people assume the Houston pick will be in the late 20s. It certainly can be as a healthy Houston team will be tough to beat. And if I was a betting man, I would put money on it being late 20s.

However, with TMac's and Yao's injury histories, Artests' let's say "chemistry X factor" and their role players needing to repeat last year's top contributions there is plenty of room for us to have a much better pick. Especially in the tough Western Conference.

Note: 1kingzfan posted an in-depth commentary about the Singletary/Ewing inclusion in the Artest trade. I split it off into its own thread in the Personnel Moves forum since the discussion will hopefully last a lot longer than this countdown!

:p

It really deserved its own thread as people wouldn't be expecting that kind of discussion in this one, IMHO.

:p

Back to the non-sense...

t-minus 81 minutes.... I really wish I would have posted when there was 93 minutes left... rats.

Thank you guys so much for giving us Artest!!!! I think the trade works well for both teams since you guys werent going anywhere anyways, and we were contenders who needed that one last piece. Artest will work great with Adelman(great coach) just like two years ago. Good luck next year, and THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
