Why does the nba shove it down our throat that rich basketball players are playing harder because they’re gonna get an extra check. What other league does this

They’re just trying to convince the viewer that there is actual stakes to the in season tournament and the players view it as such. Even though they don’t. Thats why players always give a little chuckle when asked about it before going into fed lines about how it’s a big deal.

The extra check is really just the only thing they can point to.

What’s funny is the finals doesn’t even count towards the teams records. Removing the only real stakes from it.

Well, for starters, they're not all rich: That money might not mean anything to Jalen Brunson, but Tosan Evbuomwan would get the same half a million, and that's more than his whole contract. There's a greater-than-zero percent chance that kid will be working at an Enterprise this time next year, and the guys on the team that matter want those guys to get that bread, too.

And second, all these things matter, but it seems as though it's in many people's nature to disregard anything that gets added to a sport after they personally started watching as not mattering. Personally, I never needed "convincing;" I was sold on Day One.

Two way contract is 567,000 you’re rich and the whole broadcast was what the rich guys were buying or doing with the extra check. If I’m a casual fan why would I wanna be hearing that non sense

$567K is not rich in 2025, not in the United States, anyway. You can maybe make that money stretch if you live in the middle of Nowhere, NM, but I don't think they have any NBA teams there.

What'd you think they were going to do, ask the non-rich guys? Who wants to hear that sob story? Hey, Kevin McCuller, Jr., what are you going to do with your NBA Cup check? "Pay off my car and keep from getting evicted from my apartment, probably"?

Why not? This country worships rich people and we, in the aggregate and in general, are fascinated by what they do with their money.

Ya people do worship the rich you’re right there
567k is rich that’s 3.5 times more then RN’s in California who make good money.

Yeah it's quite odd. As if that makes it more entertaining or dramatic for the fans. Not surprising how disconnected a bunch of millionaire suits are to the average person.

If the NBA was smart they'd do something like give the $500k to 15 random fans in attendance. The finals game would be a guaranteed sell out and tickets would be sky high. The team would profit and the electricity in the arena would be at an all time high to find out if you're the lucky winner of the lottery after the game.

Those fans wouldn’t be random

Lebron practically tackles Brooks on that 3 and there's no call.

The T on Brooks after was warranted.

Lebron with a weird unnatural leg kick shot to get the game winning free throws.

We feel your pain Phoenix. The NBA is and forever will be close to sports entertainment than a real sport.

Jovic might have snapped his arm. The hardest fall I’ve seen since that time Corey Brewer went horizontal
