Spurs fans who didn't want Fox, listening to Amazon's crew praise him after Castle goes for 30/10:

UD has some damned nerve, saying that Kentucky players took a pay cut when they got to the league. I mean, it's probably true, but him of all people? That man is Miami born and bred, and once said on LeBatard's show, with a wink and a nod, that him choosing Florida over Miami was "a business decision."

And this year’s winner of the “I’m bigger than a human is meant to be so my body doesn’t want to play basketball anymore” award goes to Zach Edey. It was a close race with Wemby but this new injury puts the half Taiwanese giant over the proverbial top!

Stress reactions in the foot is sorta what ended Yao’s career. It’s the death knell for a giant

Yep, not a great sign.

This is why the Spurs passing on Giannis and building a multiple championship team type of window over the next 5 years is so stupid. He's already showing to be injury prone in his first 2 and a half seasons as an NBA pro... do we really think that all of a sudden gets better as he gets older with more mileage?

Everyone wants Wemby to stay healthy, challenge the GOAT title, etc. But man, he's fighting an uphill battle just by his sheer size to stay on the floor

Edey same kind of deal. Already dealing with a bunch of foot things, which... oof. He's been awesome when he plays, but man I'm not so sure how much you can rely on him being healthy for a 10+ year career.

Shams is reporting that Wembanyama is expected back for the semifinal game of the NBA Cup.

Mans said he's coming back to holla at Chester. The hate is
real!

I was looking ahead to our next game on Sunday and something about these "Players to Watch" matchups on ESPN's NBA Scoreboard page caught my eye...

Kyshawn George's Wizards vs. Pascal Siakam's Pacers
Kevin Porter Jr.'s Bucks vs. Michael Porter Jr.'s Nets
Russell Westbrook's Kings vs. Julius Randle's Timberwolves
Trey Murphy III's Pelicans vs. Josh Giddey's Bulls
Luka Doncic's Lakers vs. Dillon Brooks' Suns

And the other three matchups that day are:

Miles Bridges' Hornets vs. Donovan Mitchell's Cavs
Joel Embiid's Sixers vs Jalen Johnson's Hawks
Steph Curry's Warriors vs. Deni Avdija's Blazers

Of the 16 teams playing on Sunday, only 3 of them (GSW - Steph Curry, Cavs - Donovan Mitchell, and Sizers - Joel Embiid) are statistically led by players who have been considered their team's leading player for any significant length of time. That seemed notable. Either player health has become a much bigger issue than I remember or this current CBA is massively wreaking havoc with player transiency. Probably both.

Maxey's Sixers

Maxey's Sixers

Apparently he's out injured on Sunday because his numbers are clearly better than Embiid's. I wasn't making a judgement about who is the leader of these teams, just commenting on the names listed on the page I linked to.

Those "Players to Watch" matchups tend to be highly informed by whom they believe will be available. For example, since Anthony Edwards has already been ruled out of playing tonight, Randle's the "next man up," and it's highly improbable that they'd do an advanced preview that features Edwards playing on Sunday.

Sure, I get that the players highlighted here aren't really an indication of anything. Normally I don't even pay attention to them but the cumulative effect of all these players (many of whom have long associations with other franchises) being traded to or signing with different teams in the last year along with a number of tier 2 players having career years so far adds up to a bit of a noteworthy moment, I thought. A lot of these franchises have turned over a third of their roster just in the last year and we haven't even got to this year's trade deadline yet. This is more roster turnover on a league-wide level than I recall seeing at any one point in the past for as long as I've been an NBA fan.

The Magic refusing to take a timeout or something for five straight possessions to take a clearly injured Suggs out of the game is certainly a choice lmao
