Collison reached out to McLemore

In talking about a guy who has been kicked out of the last two places he was handed the keys to start for a team, "reasonably sure" sounds more like "cross your fingers and hope"

On defense, ball movement, and deferring?? Read the post, man.

For what this team is being constructed as (Cousins surrounded by shooters and one talented shot creating player), yes, we need more ball movement (and DEFENSE). Not IT iso.

I'm going to enjoy serving up some fresh crow when you all see what Cousins can do with a point guard who isn't constantly looking for his own shot (or even assist numbers). A guy focused on winning, not stats. I have a hard time believing anyone who would try to make an argument that IT was more interested in the team winning than him getting "his".

Anyway, we're moving on with Collison and I think it's a better fit for our plan.

Btw... Gay was also kicked out of his last two places. That turned out pretty well.

We can be reasonably sure he'll play better D. We can be reasonably sure he'll have a better effect on ball movement. We can be reasonably sure he will readily defer to Cuz and Rudy... the better players.

Cousins was second in the league in Usage Pct while Gay was 16th. We didn't have any trouble finding those guys opportunities. The argument against Isaiah, and I think its a reasonable one, is that his departure will allow the rest of the roster to become more involved. The problem is the player who are being asked to step up are unproven young guys and Darren Collison.

You can talk ball movement all you want, but Collison was a disaster running the offense in Dallas. Under one of the leagues best coaches with a proven offense that most guards do quite well in. Even if we ignore that and focus on last season there's no evidence that Collison is a improvement on Isaiah as a shot creator. He certainly isn't a better scorer, so we can agree he'll be taking fewer shots.

We can be reasonably sure he'll be a better fit. Especially when you consider his departure makes room for McCallum, who is also better than IT in all the above categories. Individual scoring is the most overrated statistic in the NBA.

You can't just pencil in McCallum as a legit anything in this league. He's shown some flashes, but he's in no way a proven commodity. A second rounder with a limited ceiling who played alright at times during the final meaningless stretch of the season. Maybe he figures out how to be a decent third guard, maybe he even figures it out next year, but it's not something you can count on.

We can be damn sure he'll be a better locker room presence. That is not even debatable. This is not a character attack.

How was IT a bad locker room presence? And sorry but I'm not interested in your conjecture based on what you don't like about his style of play.

You're adherence to empirical evidence as the only valid source of an opinion is silly. Guys change, but both these guys have a past. That's what I'm going on for now.

There's no way I can imagine IT doing this, except for some ulterior motive to make himself look good.

You think I'm asking for empirical evidence because I take issue with your unfounded speculation? Speculation that is both factually incorrect and assumes the worst about a person motives.

In the long run (after this year) I see McCallum starting anyways. Collison will have no problem coming off the bench, which was a gigantic problem with IT. So absolutely a better fit.

I hope you're right.

The Kings won 28 games last year and the man leading the team at PG most of the season was IT. That is what a PG is, a leader. I can't put that all on IT. But can anyone really find fault in the Kings brain trust wanting to go in another direction?

IMO IT has the skills to be a top 6th man in the NBA, but it did not work out here. I would have liked to see Jose Calderon play with Big Cuz and Rudy. Iguodala can also have a positive impact on a team.

But those guys did not want to play in Sacto. Collison signed a deal to be here, has a positive attitude and has shown signs of being a team guy. I think that is admirable.
