Coaches we could get if we fire Adelman?

I agree with VF. If it's an in-season move, the Maloofs will likely just promote Turner for the remainder of the year.

If Adelman leaves/isn't asked to return in the summer (which is appearing increasingly likely) I think then they'll take a look at a number of coaches, including Turner but will probably look to talented assistants out there. I've said Musselman before, and I'll say him again. Not that I love the guy, but I think he shows promise as a young coach and I think that will be something the Maloofs would/should look for. And who knows who else may get fired next year.

Ok you guys are missing the boat on this. The one who should be coaching this team if RA gets the boot is The Other Hick from French Lick Jerry Reynolds:p

On a sort of serious note he did win 2 championships in college.

PJ Carelesimo; Paul Silas; ....and what about experiment hiring coach from Europe who knows how to play defense with un-athletic players?...

Considering most of the potential replacements, I think we'd be taking a step back by firing Adelman.

Of the coaches mentioned in this thread, Musselman or Elston Turner are the only ones I'd give a chance.

I think we should get Obradovic. HE would get Peja to start producing again :)
I wouldn't wish him upon my biggest enemy let alone the Kings.

Looking through the names on this thread, its evident that there is no one fit enough to polish Adelman's shoes let alone replace him. I would like Adelman to stay but I think this is his last year. Even if Maloofs want him back next year, I suspect that Adelman will leave on his own accord.

The best replacement mentioned here is Byron Scott and unfortunately he is unavailable.

Collins for Adelman?

I'm for Doug Collins. I know he turned down the Bucks job but maybe he sees the talent and potential with our team. Other than that, the prospects are bleak. The only Van Gundy I would want is Jeff and he's not going anywhere.

Doug Collins is even more of an idiot than Stephen A. Smith. There's a reason he's not coaching...

I'd rather have Bozo the One-Legged Monkey as coach than Doug Collins.

I sure don't understand the tendancy for people to blame a first-rate coach like Rick Adelman when things start to go south. The Kings team of 2001-2003 no longer exists. The players that played in 2002 have been traded or fired. The owners decided a few years ago to reduce their expenditures. We turned loose better players than currently sit on our bench. How the hell is Rick Adelman responsible for the recent losses.

Phil Jackson, my patootie. He had Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and a good supporting cast, then he had Shack, Kobe, and a good supporting cast. They won a bunch of games and titles. Does that make Phil Jackson the perfect coach? Not in my book. Those guys could have won NBA Championships without a head-coach!

You can't make chicken soup from chicken poop. Adelman is a great coach.

I couldn't agree more.

People like to slag off at Adelman when in fact he is a VERY VERY geood coach that has the ability to get the best out of his players. He has a whole career as a proof and 5 games this year shouldn't dictate his future.

Unfortunately, I think its a case of "The grass is greener on the other side" with a lot of people that like to point the finger at Rick. If Adelman is no lnger a coach, then those same people will cry foul about it.

Adelman is a very good coach that cops a lot of unwarranted criticism.

how about Terry Porter? IMHO this team needs new leadership...players may not be responding to Rick that much anymore...well he's one of our assistant coaches now..i'm not sure how much difference he can bring..

Michael Cooper?

Adelman has lost the team. IMO they aren't coming back. He looks like a magician who made his assistant disappear behind a curtain, and now can't find the curtain.

Has nobody even mentioned Don Nelson? Technically he's still being employed by Cuban, but its also been rumored that Nelson is interested in coaching again.

Who knows! :)

I love Doug Collins, one of my favorite announcers next to Harlan/Tolbert. Mike Tirico is horrible.

I've never heard anything too great about Doug's coaching or remember.
