Any questions?

And yes, I know this was done yesterday by someone else but tonight's game showed what effect a coach can have on a young team!!!!

Holy crap! I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!

Im glad to see we have a coach that looks like he will finally be here more than 1/2 a season. I give him lots of credit for how much this team has grown through 8 games!!

Last time we had a coach this good was when Rick Adelman was patrolling the sidelines!

Its about time the managments got it right. We finally have a coach!

why isnt sergio getting minutes?

does he care if our center shoots 3 three pointers per game?

how does it feel to accomplish something that hasnt been done with this team since 2006?

He must care some, because Hawes didn't see much run during crunch time.

It's going to be a fun year.

Kind of random but I see a little bit of Robert De Niro in Westphal especially when he smiles. :D

What a Coach!!!! Its kinda like he thinks about whats going on and puts in the right guy for the situation....... I think that is good coaching it gives guys so much confidence just ask them to do for you what they are best at.

Can't answer the first one. Better ask Westphal. But since we won, its not as revelant.

Second one. I think he cares if he makes them. Gotta admit, I was a tiny bit upset myself. I mean they were all wide open shots. So I guess you have to take them. But a tiny part of my brain is saying, what are you doing standing out there in the first place.

Third one. Yi Pi !!!!!

thats the problem... he's out there that far, he'll always be open. no center wants to guard him that far away from the basket.

In his postgame comments, Westphal singled out Spencer for playing well, said he did exactly what they wanted.

Aside from that, I'm real happy for these guys. Spencer, JT, and Donte played hard last year, but no one was here to teach them. You can tell Westphal is really teaching them a lot, and they're not only playing hard, but they're learning. There will still be a lot of ups and downs, but I don't mind as long as the guys keep improving and playing hard. I'm shocked at how srappy they have been on defense, consistently.

You know, I was listening to the game on the way home from class tonight, and apparently the coach was applauding Hawes for taking threes (as per G man), that's a tad bit worrying, if you ask me. Overall, however, I'm really liking the new coach. The team actually feels like a team again. I miss that.

Since there's no game now until Friday I wonder if the Kings practice tomorrow or get a day off? Or will it be just a quick, light shoot around and film session? Just wondering how Westphal does things and I have no problem with what he thinks is best.

Next up Houston is very beatable at this point with no T-Mac (until Nov. 18 return) and of course no Yao for entire season. They're using Modesto native Chuck Hayes:eek: in the middle and he's only 6'6 / 238 lbs. You'd think Spencer Hawes could FINALLY go inside and do some actual damage in there:confused: Rockets inside game may be weakest in the league with only Luis Scola an actual threat in the paint - but somehow hanging in at 4-3 so far this early season. Shaping up as an interesting Adelman v. Westphal battle.

I think one fo the reasons Spencer was outside taking jumpers early on was to drag Krstic away from the basket to open up lanes for Tyreke. I could be wrong, buts thats what it looked like to me.

Nice choice for your any questions thread VF. PW is proving legit and hungry. I like his in game adjusments. He doesn't just wait until halftime he calls timeouts when needed as well. He is an NBA basketball coach unlike what we had the last 3 years.

I'm happy for him that, as an old guy, he's showing that experience counts for something besides grey hairs. As he wasn't a trendy choice, I'm glad the Maloofs and Petrie gave him an opportunity.

58 is old? Now Coachie, that's old as he turns 80 next year but who's counting? Someone may correct me, but I'm no more than a year off on either one of those distinguished gentlemen.

I think Westphal is right up there, along with Evans & Casspi, on the best aquisitions we've made this season. He's got all of the players either playing up to their potential (Beno & others) or quickly moving them in that direction (Donte & others). The perfect coach for this young team.

I also give credit to Petrie for hiring Westphal and setting him up for success by bringing in a bunch of tough and competetive players who have great chemistry together, love the game, and are all about winning.

im so happy! the kings are doing well! great job by paul Westphal... i havn't seen the fan base this happy and excited about the kings in a long time.....

last year was so horrendous.... the pretty girls every grading system.. and that gues who the girl is on mike's avatar hahaha

And most of us wanted rambis at that time :D

One question: where were you 3 years ago??

Haha this does feel like 99 just w/out the veteran presence. But I feel like westphal is in the same position as adelman. Had some glory years then kinda bounced around and ended up on the kings.

Here's to another great run. But with baby steps. I love these kings!!

Nope, you're exactly right. And that's the sign - again - of a coach who knows what he's doing and how to befuddle the other team. Krstic had no choice but to step out to cover Hawes because Hawes can hit those shots just often enough to warrant the coverage.

So instead of bumping the old thread, you go ahead and make a new one? I can the sense that you like it when people "steal your thunder"..

I create the thread based on the player - on in this case coach - that I think deserved it for the game of the same night. You chose to duplicate something I've been doing for a very long time. It's not about stealing thunder or anything else. I wouldn't bump any old thread over this. Sorry if your feathers are ruffled.
