Coach Muss will bring the trophy to Sac !!

#1
I grew up in Sac, now live in Blazerland (Portland) - yikes.....but would enjoy nothing more than seeing the championship trophy in Sac. - the fans/owners deserve it.

We've got some young talent in K. Martin, F. Garcia - so a young Coach like Musselman makes sence for developmental & expansion purposes.

Also, Coach Muss's point guard system fits perfect for M. Bibby - remember, he's the Coach who gave G. Arenas, E. Boykins and S. Claxton opportunities.

Not only was Coach Eric Musselman's father, the late-great NBA Coach Bill Musselman, a great defensive specialist - the Sr. Muss's philosophy has spilled over in Coach Eric Muss.

Lastly, Coach Muss almost had an inexperienced Warriors club to the playoffs and was second in voting for "coach of the year."

He's a diamond in the rough...........

Always a Sac fan.....

I thought the guy deserved another chance in GS, but going from Rick to Eric is a big drop in experience and proven talent.

It's the coaching equivalent of trading Webber for K. Thomas.

Who do you expect to get? Outside of Larry Brown or Don Nelson, neither of whom I want within 50 miles of Sacramento, there are not many (any?) available or soon to be available coaches with Rick's experience or proven coaching ability.

Hrm. Been there, done that, read the book, saw the movie. I sure hope they don't expect us to buy the t-shirt.

Hmm.. don't usually weigh in on these coach's decisions because I'm not very knowledgable about other coaches & their styles. Based on this summary, however, I think I'll have to pass!

I don't like this analogy, its more like trading Webber for a solid second year PF with lots of potential. It could work, it could be a bust. The Maloofs are gamblers so it wouldn't shock me if they go with a highly regarded young coach rather than a PJC or Brown.

That's just it. I don't think there's an available coach of Rick's quality. I want no part in Larry Brown, though theatrics aside, he's as good as Rick, probably better. Don Nelson? Stan van Gundy? Parallel moves at best.

Honestly, I think the Kings will end up on the short end of this stick.

That said, I'd love to see the Pacers trade Carlisle for Rick. Doubt Artest would like that too much. I'd rather have Rick over the two, but Carlisle would make a lot of Kings fans happy, and Rick would make a lot of Indy fans happy.

Carlisle is a great coach -- if we had anybody except #...whatever his number is this week, as our main guy, would love to see him here. But as is...would not work unfortunately.

This is what makes the Maloof's firing of RA all the more of a mistake!

WHO on earth could there possibly be that would make a sufficient coach for our Kings?? I can honestly say at this moment in time- NO ONE..

There are sufficient people I think. But no real clear upgrades, and a lot of guys with warts or risk attached. The grass isn't always greener.

Sorry, that's a horrible analogy. A closer, though not perfect, analogy would be trading Mitch Richmond for Chris Webber. An older guy who had a lot of success for a young guy who struggled a bit and needs a second chance.

We all know how that worked out.

Trophy to Sac - Coach Musselman "is" the Answer !!

Back to the point...

Coach Muss brings motivation and respect by young and veteran players.........given the talent we currently have, he's a good fit.

As we continue to groom young talent in the next 2 years - this coach can "teach" and "exploit" their strengths..............

Coach Muss could prove to be a long time asset to the Kings :)

Back to the point? ;)

Around here you'll have to get used to the threads taking on lives of their own. People have read your post; they'll either respond, provide alternative comments of their own, or they might go completely off topic...

It's The Dreaded Off-Season (commonly known as TDOS). You'll soon find out that it's almost impossible to keep threads totally on topic.

Uh...Musselman ain't all THAT and a bag of chips, or he'd already be back in the league.

One name among many, showed enough in his first stint to maybe get rehired one day, but hardly some superstar talent.

Thanks !!

VF21 - thanks for the tip !!

I think we can all agree, that this coaching decision is as important as the Kings have ever made.....with the new arena and chattering about moving the Kings.

Considering my current home town team, the Blazers, the Kings are in a GREAT position to make another run.....

bricklayer - he is an assistant coach with the Grizzlies

One thing about Mussellman, is yes he was a very good coach, yes he was a great motivator, but the players hated him, and he didnt like playing young people (on a young squad)

He didnt play Arenas at all until the last 15 games of that last season... and Arenas exploded for like 20 ppg in those 15 games... He is not a good young players' coach, and he is not good at dealing with egos

Not sure what it is but coach Muss doesn't excite me and get the blood a pumping.

Hey may be a good coach... I don't think he will be the pick. I had 2 am now at 3 that the Maloofs will pick

Musselman IMO will be the "next great NBA coach". I like everything about him, so I hope the Kings don't hire him because I'd like him to be the Pacers coach whenever Carlisle leaves.

If I am not mistaken Adelman was sitting at home "out of the league and not feeling like all that and a bag of chips" about to take the Portland State job when the Kings came calling
