i think the clips just lost bad to some euro team, everyone was talking about philly, but i really dont even think nba players give a **** who wins these exibition games
I think they care. The thing is I don't believe Cassell even played in the game. As much as people jump on the Clipper bandwagon if you stop and remember they have never been very good when he wasn't on the floor.
The Clippers have always had very good talent around Elton Brand but they are still a lot like the 2003 Timberwolves. They look great with Sam running the show.
Nobody can discredit the way CSKA played. That is a well oiled machine of a team. The coaching of these teams is unbelievable. They know what they are doing and it is no fluke that NBA teams are getting all they can handle and more from these Euro teams.

Alien....uhm I mean Cassell was in the game and so was Brand and Kaman. The game was on NBATV yesterday. The Clips just played horrible on both ends. Just like team USA they couldn't guard the most basic of all plays the Pick and Roll.

From what I've heard neither Cassel nor Brand actually "played" in the game.
They were physically on the court but clearly had some hot date at a Moscow night club later that evening which they didn't want to tire themselves out for.
There's special methods of rehabilitation from long distance travel and time zone changes. There's a soccer team in Russian Premier League that has to travel 6-7 time zones for 28 or so times a season. They kinda overachieve right now.
After doing my research, I rescind my comment about the quality of CSKA's team. There must have been quite a few changes since last time I checked. A roster comparison shows that this game should have been much closer. (Trajan Langdon?!)
STILL, their victory says a lot about THEIR team effort vs. the Clips effort.
LA Times CSKA, the Euroleague champions, grabbed the early lead before the Clippers went ahead 24-23 on Maggette's score. But CSKA regained the advantage with the next basket and never fell behind again, steadily widening their lead and making it 52-39 when Anton Ponkrashov scored just before halftime.
the clippers lost to the best team in eurocup. of course, the spurs drilled the second best team (tel aviv).
I really don't think the nba players care about these games first it was Iverson and his play, now it is Sammay and Brand. And I agree with Brick, i think they didn't want to tire themselves out to much for a date at some club.

the arrogance stemming from ignorance is appalling. noone in his/her right mind would claim that maccabi is the second best team in europe at present. cska is probably not the best team either. barcelona might have a say on that.
and what is the point in arguing whether the rest of the world is catching up? the results are right there. i am starting to enjoy the ever increasing pile of excuses. pretty soon, everyone but the most stubborn will see that nba, if the organization's attitude remains intact, will be to fiba what wwf (pro-wrestling; i don't know what it currently is called) is to fila.

what arrogance? two teams were in the championship game, moscow and tel aviv, moscow won.

i'm glad they're catching up. but in all honesty, they are in the nba. of the past 13 nba champions, 11 have had big contributions from at least one foreigner.
