Darius Garland has been at the center of rumors and speculation since the moment the Cleveland Cavaliers' postseason run came to a premature end. Grant Afseth of RG.org reported on Tuesday that "The Sacramento Kings have identified Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland as a trade target as they seek to address the team's vacancy at lead guard this offseason, multiple league sources told RG." From Sacramento's perspective, it would make sense for them to find a replacement star point guard after the team traded De'Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs at last year's deadline.

I don’t believe I’ve heard of “RG Sports” but Garland would be an interesting target. This would hurt but something like Keon, Deebo and a pick or two would probably have to be the package. Keon would be a great pairing with Mitchell and Deebo off the bench could put the Cavs back in title contention. On the Kings side, it would obviously hurt to lose Keon but at some point we are going to get an “ouch that hurts” trade. A Lavine Garland pairing isn’t ideal but probably wouldn’t be the long term vision.

See, I think LaVine is the likely piece to facilitate these monster deals, contract wise. Trae and LaVine contracts essentially mirror each other and Garland is within the ball-park of LaVine too that it shouldn't be that difficult to find the right way to bridge the gap.

I’m just not sure how Lavine would fit on either of those teams. Cavs could maybe talk themselves into another scorer but I’d imagine they would rather have a perimeter defender next to Mitchell. The Hawks wouldn’t have a point guard and they would have Risacher, Daniels, Johnson and Lavine to fill 3 starting spots on the wing.
