With so much light on all of our other players, this could be the year when Francisco breaks out. Providing he stays healthy of course.

Kevin Martin is a special kid. There was a lot of pressure on him when Bonzi went out last year, and he responded very well. With that said, I've always felt that Cisco has more potential. And now that the spotlight is on so many other players, the pressure is not on Cisco. I think that will translate to great production, even though I think he won't get the minutes he deserves.

I don't think Kevin can prove Bonzi will not be missed in one game. We will have to see it over an extended period of time. Cisco has great potential, especially on the defensive side and with Artest as his mentor, i don't see why he won't become a great defensive player. Its his offense that needs the most work.

I will confess to not seeing Salmons play until last night. I will also say that he looked okay. He did show a nice first step and play with a nice relative calm. Even looked decent handling the ball. Still--

Ummm. I don't think he's 24 million dollars better than Cisco. In fact I wonder who has the bigger potential. A strange acquisition (however you spell it). I see little he can bring to the game that we couldn't get a lot cheaper from Garcia. Anyhow, we'll see.

valid point!

Cisco has great potential - just needs some maturing and mentoring to help harness and direct that talent.

It's not Kevin's job to go out there and 'prove we won't miss Bonzi' It's Kevin's job to go out there and play his behind off, which he will. It was Bonzi's decision not to come back, not Kevin's. They are different types of players, so to spend all year comparing their games is pretty pointless. I expect to see some big things from Kevin this year. He looks really comfortable/confident.
Forget Bonzi, this is a new era.

Word up, sista friend!!!

:D

Francisco is a very special player. I don't remember seeing those kind of natural instincts about the game in a long while.

He had 4 steals and 1 block in that preseason game.

And last season for that month before his injury, I think January, he averaged just under 2 blocks a game!

IF he makes a jump like Martin did last season, our bench could actually become dangerous with SAR/KT, Taylor, Cisco, Salmons (yet to be fully decided) and if Price and/or Douby can give us a good 12-15 miuntes, we should be set. We still got Pot, Corliss, and Hart. I actually think this season could turn out to be really good.

garcia is definitely there definisively, but his offense really has done well. He did score that much last season neither did he last night. I think Kevin martin has more potential as of now, being a starter and all and is ready to have a breakout season.

I like Cisco, he really can be our Doug Christie defender and isn't a bad shooter. You can really see how good this guy is getting, he was doing great up until he twisted his ankle coming down on Brad's foot. He is really learning a lot from an amazing defender in Artest and he has the skills and length to be a tenacious defender especially at the guard spots where he really is long. I see Cisco as being a great defender as I see KMart lighting up the score board. We really did great with our late 1st rounders, I hope the same for Douby with his long arms and hope he learns to be a good combo guard, I see much more of future for him at PG so he needs to learn that spot, but I also hope to see Price knock Hart out of here. While I like Hart's defense, Price can do this and is very athletic and I hope gets playing time. Price needs to show he can play this season, even if it is 3 string PG behind Salmons. With the $ we payed Salmons, we need to use his versatility at the 1-3 spots. Salmons looks to be a good defender like Artest said about him. I really like what I see in Defense from Artest obviously, then Cisco/Salmons. All these guys are good ball handlers and can really play 1-3. Should be a good season, very interesting. :D

That is exactly what I was thinking when we signed him... What do we get from Salmons that Garcia doesn't have?? Except for experience of course.

Well hopefully this becomes crystal clear soon. I do see Salmons as being someone Cisco is and can be, especially under Artest's wing. I sure wish if we weren't going to get Bonzi, we spent the $ on a decent/good 4/5 guy, but that would just be to logical right? Bibby also needs a backup and Cisco is not a #2 option behind Bibby eventhough he can do it like Artest can.
