Wow, Cisco with some impressive stats. The 3pt% stands out like a disruptive student. Not so impressed with rebounds though, could have done better there

Garcia is a good example of how good international players are usually just mediocre in the NBA. I had no idea Al Horford is from the D.R.

Huh? Garcia went to Louisville...I don't think that qualifies.

Just as with the Beno Udrih thread, I'm going to suggest we keep this about Cisco's performance in the tournament and not derail it into a discussion of his relative value in the NBA.

Thanks...

You know, some of you would complain about being hung with a new rope...

The guy signed up to share the stats with us and take about Cisco. As we're getting more international players, we're also getting more international KF members and I'm guessing some of them haven't quite figured out all the little nuances quite yet.

We might want to cut them a little slack, you know?

:)

That's right in line with what I would expect with him in this competition.

thats what i was thinking... he's probably doing all of the things that we wish that he would do for us. he's probably taking his time and shooting open shots, nothing reckless, no forced passes.... he probably looks like a star. just like how carlos arroyo used to(or still does) look like a baller for the puerto rican team but was a scrub in the nba.

I have to disagree with your last sentence. Cisco has played solid defense and is a good scorer coming off the bench in the NBA. I also think he is the Kings best clutch 3 point shooter. Cisco is also a fair point forward bringing the ball up. His tendency to try to force a play that is not there has mostly disappeared. Cisco is a solid 6th or 7th man in the NBA.

A scrub sits at the end of the bench and only plays in mop up time when games are out of hand one way or another.

Dude don't try to disagree with that guy. Everything he says is right, everything you say is wrong. It doesn't matter if he disagrees with some of the best minds in the game of basketball (re: Calipari making Evans a pg). He is right and your opinion is wrong regardless of how right it really is.

The best thing to remember is to keep your comments about the topic at hand and NOT about another member.

And, geez, he was saying that he thought that some international players don't do as well in the NBA. I'd have thought that posters who are happy we didn't draft Rubio would be rushing to agree with him.

Can we let this stuff go?

nobody mentioning that hes playing with a big like Hortford who should dominate in a turny like this?

Cisco is a great spot up shooter, put him on the 05-06 suns and the guy would be lethal...he can hit the open J, run the floor, defend, gets in lanes..

I'm not happy we didn't draft Rubio, I'm happy that we drafted Evans. And I wasn't posting about AM27, I was posting how useless it was to argue a point with him, saving other posters the misery.

Let it go. A comment like that in the context of an ongoing discussion is one thing. A comment like that made out of the blue, so to speak, is in violation of the rules.

Let's resume our discussion of Cisco's performance in the tournament, um-kay?

chill out... all he said was that he didnt think that garcia is a scrub.... its not that serious. if he said that garcia was a potential superstar, franchise player being played out of position then maybe we would have an argument. but he didnt. chill.....

The thing about Cicso is he has always been sick. College I remember watching his highlights not knowing who he really was saying "that kid is sick" next thing I know we have him. He was spotting up from distance back then as he does now. Just needs to develope a fadeaway :)

He has all the potential in the world and the perfect body frame to accomplish it. His problem is he is playing at the wrong speed and he makes dumb decisions at times. But if he can figure that out he can be a heckuva baller.

I watched Cisco play a lot in college. I'm not quite sure what sick is, but I will say that he made me sick to my stomach at times. He was very inconsistant and very turnover prone. You could see the talent there, but you had to wonder how in the world it was going to get better at a higher level. In fairness to him, he has improved dramaticly. He still has the same problems, but not nearly to the same extent. His shooting has improved at the spot up to the extent that one has to rate him as one of the better spot up shooters in the league.

Cisco's problem has never been about what he can do. Its always been about what he can't do and still trys to do. When he plays within himself. Plays to his strengths, he's a very good player. Its when he trys to be someone he's not that he gets into trouble. One could almost say that with Cisco, less is more.

While on the subject of Cisco, I think he should be our starter at the SF position. For several reasons. One, it would give us another outside threat to take the pressure off Evans. Two, he can bring the ball up or help distribute the ball once its up the court, to once again take pressure off of Evans. Three, in my opinion he's a better defender than Nocioni, especially from the weakside.

There's going to be a transition period for Evans, and the more help the team can give him the easier it will be for him.

Plus he's the closest thing we have to a leader.

Reke and Martin - Hawes and Thompson are the ones to watch this season. Hate to say it, but our SF position will at this point in time with this roster just be a role position. We need shane Battier

All teams need role players, even among the starters. I wouldn't be averse to Cisco starting at that position. Only problem is I think he's our best player off the bench right now. I still like Nocioni, but I have hopes for Casspi to really show something (hope).

Shane Battier would be nice, lets give them back Donte Greene for him :p

You're right though. I'm not expecting much from the SF slot this season either. Noc is what he is, and so is Cisco. Both players have pretty much peaked at what they can do in the NBA. Then on the other end of the spectrum we have Greene and Casspi, who both have the potential to be pretty good, but are so raw they arnt going to do much this season.

Well I would love to have Battier. Our defense would improve dramaticly. But any chance we would have had to get him was probably last year when Houston still had Artest.
