Chris Andersen = Scot Pollard

Gary

All-Star
Seen this guy play this year a lot, and he does everything for the Nuggets that Pollard did for the Kings years ago..

If we were in contention I wouldn't mind having him here as a 6th man.

I know.. Random post, but Andersen deserves it for his play this year.

I know Scot Pollard. I like Scot Pollard. I will always have fond memories of Scot Pollard, as a key cog on the Kings team that got robbed. He's a funny guy and, when healthy, he was a solid role player for the greater majority of his career. Having said that, Scot Pollard wishes that he were half the defender that Chris Andersen is.

Agreed. Both Pollard and Andersen are hustlers, but Pollard could never block shots the way Andersen does. He's always a presence when he's in there

Anderson's shotblocking ability is extraordinary--the guy has real leaping ability (don't forget is botched attempts at the dunk contest), great length and a real knack for timing. While he hustles and actively looks to defend, much of his success is based on his physical tools--he just has a knack for rebounding and blocking shots. A gift

Pollard, while he was fairly athletic in his prime years, is never going to be considered a freak...and he largely got by hustling, irritating other bigs and playing with heart--he really was a guy who had to maximize himself. We ran one of the better offenses and he largely got his points by defenders sheerly leaving him open or off of offensive rebounds--and his scoring completely evaporated once he left us. In other words, we made him look better than he was in offense. But he was a key cog for us, no doubt about that--when he played 110% at full speed with us, his impact was great. But his 110% playing style translates to about Anderson putting about 70% effort. It's just about natural gifts.
