Cell phone ringtones

I'm pretty much technology-impaired and just got my first cell phone about a year ago. I still don't know a lot about it, just the basics. Therefore, I don't have a clue about how to get a personalized ring tone added to my Nokia's features! I see all these websites that offer the tones, but I don't know how to use them. So what exactly is the process(es)? Do you have to have your own PC? I don't and was wondering if this would be something I could do using a public terminal such as the library or Internet cafes. Or is it possible to just plug in your cell phone number into these websites and have the ring tone sent to your phone that way? I thought I heard someone I asked say that could be done.

whatever you do, don't text the numbers you see on the commercials on t.v. offering screensavers and ringtones. they will keep sending them to you because with the first text message, you are essentially signing up and are under contract. they will just keep sending them and sending them, while charging your phone bill.

call your provider and get internet access on your phone, then browse from your phone and purchase.

I have tmobile also, if you go in the menu you should tzones, go there and they have ringtones, wallpaper and megatones etc. If you can't find it go to tmobile.com put in your phone number and you can find it there. You don't have to have the internet on your phone. By the way the meagtones are better than ringtones, cost a little more but they play the actual song by the actual artist.

BTW RD and anyone else who may be interested, t mobile finally has basketball wallpaper, they have the kings logo and also a pic of Chris,Mike and Peja, that's what I'm using. It's supposed to be Brad instead of Chris but they messed up, I'm not complaining though.

I don't know what tzones are, but I'll just go the website and find out I guess. I want the Imperial Death March from Star Wars as my ringtone, heh.

RD after you go to the website and put in your # it will be easy to find the downloads. i don't know if they have that one, it really depends on your phone. Some phones are more compatible than others. They do have a search so you can find what you're looking for or just read through what they have. I hope you don't have any problems.

Dougie, how about BSB? lol If you want music go for megatones instead, or it really doesn't even sound like the song.

Yea, I learned my lesson after buying some dumb ringtone that didn't even sound like the song I wanted. And another thing that pisses me off about these ring tones..it seems like every one I download is no longer than 12 seconds tops. Its so dumb because it just cuts off and repeats itself. Everyone else has these nice long ringtones and mine suck. And theres no way to preview them before I buy it

^^^ Mine are only 12 seconds also, that's standard for most companies. It doesn't bother me that much b/c my phone only rings like 3 times before it goes to voice mail and that's almost the same time as the tone.

i'm too cheap to buy the ringtones off my sprint phone. i can browse, but i can't preview them.

i am DYING for the "phantom of the opera" overture song. MY GAWD that would be the COOLEST ring. ( btw the overture is the part with the organ at the beginning of the movie)

i have verizon and on my programs it lets me preview the ringtones and most of mine are 30 seconds or so and so its cool

Movie?? Nothing beats the stage version. (That would be a cool ringtone.)

Finally figured out tzones. And we are allowed to freely browse! I am going to have sooo much fun with this one now.

Glad you figured it out RD. I haven't had my phone very long either and I've read the manual so many times, it's ridiculous. I still don't know what half the things do but oh well I can answer it and that's what counts.

the manual has nothing in it about tzones! I had to call the customer service number and have someone explain it to me and walk through the process.

That one I figured out on my own, it really depends on your phone, they're all so different, that's why I couldn't give you specific instructions. I meant to tell you instead of getting the megatones, get hi-fi ringers, they're the ones that play the actual music/song instead of sounding like tin.
