I second that!

I think there was an article in the Bee a few days ago...I'm going to try and find it.

Props, Dave!!!

Media insider: Carmichael Dave gets shot with a KHTK evening slot
By Joe Davidson -- Bee Staff Writer

He's gone from the teenager pest in the program director's ear pleading for an on-air chance to the sure-as-clockwork call-in fan who went from "Dave in Carmichael" to, simply, "Carmichael Dave" to a regular the last three years as a sports update guy on KHTK 1140.

Now the climb has landed him his own show, and let that be a lesson for anyone who craves his own talk show. Carmichael Dave (last name not really important in this business), debuts his nightly program Monday on 1140, a 9 p.m.-to-midnight slot that came open after Tim Montemayor took his act to St. Louis.

"I'm excited, ecstatic, a dream come true, and I'm scared ... and absolutely mortified at the thought of filling three hours in the middle of July," the 30-year-old host said, laughing.

Carmichael Dave's "real job" is that of a partner for a mortgage brokerage firm that's based in Orange County. His hobby is radio, wearing Florida State hats backward and any throwback jersey he can find, and, of course, talking lineup changes and winning streaks. Carmichael Dave said his show will be a mixture of sports, politics, edgy fun, "but it won't be sophomoric."

He plans to have Kings co-owner Joe Maloof on sometime next week, and promises not to say "we" during any Kings evaluation, unlike others on 1140.

Yeah, congratulations, Carmichael Dave; now, if only KHTK would stream online, I might actually get to hear you...

I didn't like him the first time he did the show but then heard it a few weeks ago (not sure exactly when) he had a band on there and it was a really cool show. Listened to him again and liked him. Maybe he was getting more into his style and to me that was the improvement that I noticed right off. I liked it, like his show now and Congrats CD

I second that 1140 needs to stream online. (OH AND FOR FREE)

thanks all

Ok...so today is the day.

I wish I could post here more often, but unfortunately the two dont mix very well.

Tonight I start the 9-12 show, and I would have posted something earlier...but I just completed the DNA and background check to clear my user name.

Message boards are the most unappreciated and most under utilized tool in media. I am sure that some people in my biz read the boards, but don't acknowledge it. I will not make that mistake. There is no question that KF is the most used board in Sacramento. You should all be proud of that.

Having been a poster on different boards for so long, I miss not being able to interact with fellow fans that are just as (if not more) passionate and knowledgable as I am. People here dont just talk kings for a couple hours a day, its an ongoing thing, and I respect the hell out of that.

So I will be happy in the coming months to openly read and talk about the boards. I will be reading every day (as I always have) and I am sure many a time some of the subject matter on my show will be similar to the debates here.

In other words, I will simply be blatantly ripping you off...:p

Seriously, I cannot (and will not) be just another sports show on the station. I will not put on some special hat and forget that I am born and raised in this town, and am a lifelong Kings fan. I am not unbiased, but those that know me know that I am far from a homer. In fact, I am probably tougher on our team than most non-biased observers.

That being said, this show is for us. All of us. This will be the "fans" show. Caller driven. Local topics. Community involvement.

All feedback (especially negative) is welcomed and encouraged. If you want to post something in this thread (or on the board), of course do so....or if you want to keep it private...you can always email me at carmichaeldave@hotmail.com ...and I will respond. If you think there is a topic that is not getting enough (or any, or too much) coverage, let me know.

This is the culmination of a very long road, and a lot of work. It was just yesterday that I was sitting in my bedroom in my parents house, waiting to hit record on my tape player when it was time for me to do my call to Jason and Steve Buzzard on the Kings post game.

Even though just getting this opportunity is something I am proud of, I understand the work is just beginning. I have a ton to learn, and I will assuredly make mistakes. But I will bring my best every night, and I know there will be a connection with all fans....because I speak the language.

Thanks again, and GO KINGS!!

Congratulations, Dave. We are proud of you, especially since you are really one of us who used your knowledge, talent, and hard work, to get your own show. I will be tuning in.

::6th runs to turn on the radio::

Thanks for reading my email on your show, Dave, and mentioning KingsFans.com and other message boards on your 1st show.

For those of you who did not hear it, this is what I wrote:

Subject: Dave At Last!

Dave, congratulations on your show. You not only are the last show of the day, but you have finally, and at last found your niche in local radio by being awarded your own show. I wish you well, and I will be listening as I have been listening to you on Sacramento sports radio for many years. Again, congratulations!

I heard it. Your famous 6th;)

Been listening.... Been a pretty good show.

Bigtime congrats to you Carmichael Dave. Funnily enough, I am from Carmichael as well, though I am away at college. I wish KHTK would get its radio station streaming on the net like many around the country have so I could listen. Anyway, plenty to talk about on your new show since Peja-Artest went down and the Niners upcoming draft :)

The site is finally up. Still waiting for the podcasts and such.

Yep, finally up. There are still 1 billion things to fix, add, and update, but the nuts and bolts are there. I invite all of you to head over and join the forums, to help get them going. I appreciate everyone listening to the show, as well.

As far as the podcasting, I can tell you we got some very good news the other day...the clearance to stream online.

That doesnt mean it will happen tomorrow, but very soon you should be able to pick up the station (minus kings games of course)....
