Cavs vs Pistons - Game 5

Well, an interesting little factoid about Detroit that got lost in the "we love the Pistons?" mania of midseason:

They aren't that good of a defensive team anymore!

WHAT??!!!

No, really.

Remember their new coach? Flip Saunders of the 30% playoff win percentage? He's an offensive minded coach. And wheras last year the Pistons defensive numbers went like this:

.430 Opp FG%,

this year its

.452 Opp FG%

That's a middling 13th in the NBA. For comparison, your Sacramento Kings had an Opp FG% of .454.

We'll see how it goes.

Different teams and situations anyway. Detroit is a little older, LeBron is growing up right before our eyes. Figure last year Larry was probably going to lose to the Heat until Wade got hurt, etc.

But it is an interesting little factoid.

Interesting to see the cavs become a defensive monster team overnight and the pistons becoming foul prone just for this series. How many times has billups fouled out of a game. But I am very happy with the way things are going more cos I can say that "I said so" ;)

NBA is becoming more of a joke

Yes truly, you are a genius.

Got nothing at all to do with the Pistons playing like crap (well, they were probably bought off by Stern) or anything going on on the court. Nope, its all vladetomiller's space alien/crop circle/black helicoptor theory come to life. Its nice though, kind of like a religion -- anything you do not understand or expect is clearly the responsbility of the conspiracy.

When it comes to LeBron James and greatness, thats the only way.

 ;) :D

And for the n'th time Brick why do you always have to get into personal remarks, maybe I am a genius and maybe you are one too.

It gets interesting to see that the cavs have all of a sudden in one series become a defensive, half court game team. On the other hand the pistons who untill game 1 were defensive beasts are fouling out like crazy, the so called defensive player ben wallace is a non-factor in the series. Are the pistons really playing like crap, watch the games and decide for yourself.

You might be a lebron worshipper and not everyone has to agree with that. It is not a conspiracy theory that I am talking about, its a prediction that I made based on certain data and if you have to argue about the data that is fine and maybe you can call it crude luck on my part thats upto you.

Along with Donyell Marshall, Eric Snow, Flip Murray, Z last night.

Isnt that the same core that everyone said that were useless and that bron was carrying the team on his shoulders for his MVP votes. The whole board barring a few had that argument and now it turns the other side ;)

I don't exactly agree. I think he's getting a lot of help from Vareajao (sp?). His energy has been a well needed kick for the Cavs bench. Every one else just does their thing on a time to time basis while LBJ does the rest.

I guess you can say here and there, Gooden helped them win in a way.. but I see King James carrying the Cavs.

Uh, yeah. The Pistons are playing like crap. As in shooting .419 for the series crap. But probably its the refs doing that.

And the Pistons are being cheated, big time. I mean how else to explain how they are averaging an amazing 19.2 fouls called against them a game, compared to 21.8 for the Cavs? Its OBVIOUSLY bias against the Pistons. I mean, they can't keep ANYBODY in the game....well, besides the 3 starters averaging 40+min (Hamilton, Prince and Ben) and 4th starter averaging 38.6mpg (Chauncey).

No, its obviously all a conspiracy. I specifically recall seeing the refs running in there and committing tap fouls on the elbows of the Pistons shooters -- I mean how else to explain Rip shooting .417, Prince .449, Chauncey .373, Sheed .431 and Ben .423. They are playing GREAT. Its just that the Stern led mega-conspiracy is cheating them.

If you really believe that the NBA is fixed, why would you support it?

Seriously, it is more about what Detroit doesn't do right now rather than what Cleveland does. If Cleveland somehow makes to the ECF, I am pretty sure Miami will get past Cleveland easily.

Just the same statement from Wiz fans about the Cavs taking on the Pistons.
