I didn't see this posted, even though it happened around 5 yesterday.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Sacramento police are investigating who vandalized the Kings mural at 16th Street and R Street downtown.

The painter said someone ripped off a portion of the panel with Omri Casspi's face on it.

It's the third time someone has defaced the painting and targeted Casspi specifically.

The first two cases of vandalism occured in September last year. Someone painted a swastika on Casspi's face. Police have not caught whoever is responsible.

Casspi is the first Israeli-born player in the NBA.

"It was a hate crime, and rightfully, that earned our scorn," said John Boisa, director of the Jewish Community Relations Council for The Jewish Federation.

Boisa said he doesn't know if the latest theft was also a hate crime or a fan trying to get a souvenir of the Kings.

The painter, Anthony Padilla, has now written a message on the mural.

That message says, "Someone stole my face." That message also offers a $5,000 reward and asks anyone with information to email Padilla.

"I have really grown attached to the piece in its entirety," Padilla said explaining why he is offering the reward.

Yeah, if I wanted a piece of the mural as a souvenir, I'd have just taken the whole thing...don't think that's the case, particularly with the history this particular mural has.

Of course if the Kings move this may all be moot and the mural may come down, but will somebody please just mount a camera nearby already?
