Brad Miller to Orlando?

Smills91

Starter
Seems like a logical fit.

Brad

for

Arroyo
Garrity
Bogans
1st round pick

Kings trade Anthony Johnson to the C's for their 2nd round pick+TPE and trade Tyronn Lue to Suns for their 2nd round pick+TPE. To clear the roster spots. We'd need Lorenzen Wright after trading Brad for a bunch of Smalls.

Kings roster:
C: Mikki Moore, Spencer Hawes, Lorenzen Wright
PF: Shelden Williams, Kenny Thomas, SAR
SF: Ron Artest, Francisco Garcia, Pat Garrity
SG: Kevin Martin, John Salmons, Keith Bogans
PG: Beno Udrih, Quincy Douby, Carlos Arroyo

That's leave a Artest/Thomas for Expirings as the next logical move. Kings could go after a Josh Smith/Emeka Okafor/Jose Calderon caliber free agent or two if they managed all that.

What happened to the other thread? Did you delete it?

This "rumour" is causing great excitement for Magic fans, but I just can't see any solid evidence that this was being discussed by GP and Otis.

Where have you all been -- I've had dibs on nearly this exact proposal since last summer and could dig up the thread to prove it. :p

Then nbrans picked up second dibs here a few days ago.

Then this -- if it ends up happening Geoff owes me a night out on the town. ;)

Oh, and P.S. if it does end up happening, and we move Artest too, its a fresh start and whole new world for our Kings, weighted down only by the bad decisions we've made at PF the last few years.

^Fine, you can claim dibs on the Miller/Orlando trade but if Nene comes here you can be sure I'm dredging up one of my trade proposals from three years ago. haha

Problem with this, as far as I can tell, is that Otis Smith (Orlando GM) is an odd combination of idiot and coward. He'll waste $100 mil on Rashard Lewis but is the cowardly lion when it comes to taking on anybody else's contract to try to put them over the top.

^It also depends on whether they're willing to be tax payers. Adding Miller puts them right at $65 million in payroll next year, and they already have a thin bench. Take away the first round pick and they'd need to still fill out their roster with some free agents, especially a backup PG.

Doesn't make sense to me either. I thought Miller would be great in Orlando, compete this year and next year, then if they want they have another massive expiring to put more pieces around D. Howard.

I'd be giddy at the idea if I was a Magic Fan.

I think VF deleted that thread with the links....why? I dunno, gonna have to ask her.

that deal would be dope... we could send douby and hawes to d-leadue to make spots for them or trade johnson and lue for 2nd rd picks...

It's like I said in the thread that was (I guess) deleted, I don't want to see Brad Miller gone and still have Kenny F. Thomas on the roster. I know it makes it a lot harder to work the numbers out, but we can't keep moving our best players and just hold on to our worst/most overpaid. The goal is to package the worst/most overpaid with the best assets, and actually set ourselves up for some success in the future. I know KT only has two more years on his contract, but some years are longer than others.

The other motivation for getting rid of KT is that he is the last remaining vestige of the ill-advised Webber trade, and once he's gone, we won't have a constant reminder of that deal staring us in the face every season. "Moveable pieces" my a**.

Brad is somehow making basketball sense again. I know he is hurt and all but for the most part the league is not buy it and there are not gonna buy his contract. I loveeeeee the magic trade. I would do it without the 1st round pick. Like Brick said (and I don't remember ever disagreeing with anything the man says): moving Brad means brand new kings as of next season. we would be under the cap if we shipped miller artest and now after bibby.

I just feel like we would have to hold a gun to his head to take brad on... just because of his value around the league.

orlando already has arguably the best center in the league....

Who also has the mobility to be right there as the best PF in the league.

Not to mention Brad had maybe his best season playing at PF next to Vlade.

You team the inside presence of Howard and the jumpshooting of Brad and you have perfect compliments offesnively at least. If we were going to take any frontcourt player in the league and pair him wiht Brad here in Kingsland, Howard would be the guy I would choose as the best fit. Same goes the other way if its in Orlando.
