Brad Miller Ranked #1 Center in NBA Mag...

nope, kaman is not better, niether is ben wallace or marcus camby, camby cant saty healthy kaman had one OKAY year, dwight howard is a 4 tim duncans a 4, amares really a 4, bosh is a 4, big z is very overrated, memet okur is "miller light", brad is top 3

I disagree entirely. The center position is nearly extinct. There are maybe 3 traditional big name centers left. (O'Neal, Yao, and Illgauskas) Miller is not a traditional center. He camps out on the perimeter and doesn't really have an inside game. He's nothing like Olajuwon, Jabbar, Ewing, Chamberlain, Russell, etc.. namely traditional centers.

As a result, you have to broaden your definition of a center. Amare is a center because he guards them. He's smaller and quicker but the power forward on that team is shawn marion. Same with Dwight Howard. Yea they're not 7 feet tall but they functionally play the same position as Miller and in a game they're guarding Miller or Yao or O'Neal. Duncan is a power forward because Nesterovic or Mohammed or Robinson played the center spot.

So my order is.. 1. Yao 2. O'Neal 3. Howard (Amare would be up here but microfracture surgery is the tommy john surgery of basketball, you'll never be 100% again -- see Chris Webber)

Miller doesn't play defense and is an average rebounder at this point. He had a career high in 3 point shooting last year but I figure it will go down again. He's always been around 31%. His passing ability is what seperates him but as a center he doesn't compare to the others.

Brad Miller isn't #1. Its ridiculous if you actually believe that.
He however plays primarily on the post. If you ever watched Yao in his rookie year, he used to step out and routinely shoot jump shots but Van Gundy's offense makes him more of a post presence unlike Miller.

Brad Miller has some good qualities but #1 or even #2 center is out of the question. Perhaps in some fantasy leagues. In fact Brad is not even a true center. More like a power forward that used to roam these parts. Elbow shots, 3 pointers, lousy defense. Not to say that he is a lousy player. Just not a true center. If he could play with his back to the basket and a have a few moves down low then I would say he is a true center. Unfortunatley, Brad plays more like Raef Lafrentz these days than Yao, Shaq, or most certainly Vlade. Maybe Muss will teach the old dog some new tricks.

Yes, I am sure Ben Wallace and his 4 DPOYs or whatever it is trembles in his boots everytime he has to square off with our slightly flabby groundbound hick.

Try trading Brad for ANY of the people on your list there. Any of them. See what response you would get. Might be enlightening.

Anything like this?

It will be interesting to see how Brad fits in with this team. With Adelman's squad of Webber, Divac, etc. he fit in perfectly, but this team has completely changed its identity. I think we'll need this year to see how Brad does with this team before we make any major assessments on him.
