The guy elbowed Cousins in the throat. What would be the proper response to that? He'd get punched for that on just about any court anywhere. Keep it moving folks.

It's no fun, let me tell you: I had to have a root canal on one of my front teeth when I was in high school, after some kid hit me in the mouth with a hockey stick in gym class.

In a somewhat related story, I subsequently got suspended for punching him in the face, and then trying to step on his neck, while still wearing hockey skates.

During high school, I played junior hockey and still hold two league records: most time spent in the penalty box; and I was the only guy to ever take off his skate and try to stab somebody.

bet if we switch the roles and it was DMC throwing the elbow at Jonas, DMC would still be crucified by the media. Lose lose.

Now that we know Gay also has a fractured jaw, maybe we could acknowledge that Lithuania may very well have been playing with the intent to injure. To me that's more of a focus than Boogie getting angry in response. Who wouldn't get angry? I suspect FIBA doesn't care about Lithuania's play but shouldn't there be some investigation as to how the Lithuanians were told to play? Rough basketball is one thing but the assaults on Boogie and Rudy were over the top. I suppose people will disagree and fall in line with that article by a Sacramento "fan" who thought we should continue to worry about how Boogie reacted.

I think there is a difference between his anger at what he perceived as bad calls in the past being made to his detriment but when a team seems to have a deliberate intent to injure, what's he supposed to do? He got a tech for looking menacing at a guy who tried to chop his head off. Whoopty doo.

I can't remember what 30 for 30 I was watching, but it was one of those roughneck teams (Pistons? Raiders? Miami football? It was one of them), and one of the players said something like, "We were either going to win the game, or the fight." Maybe that's just how they roll in Lithuania?
 
Unfortunately, Cuz is just going to have to deal with the elbow thing and teams being overly aggressive with himfor his career until he shows it doesn't get him heated (which probably isn't possible, considering the sort of player he is). And not that I blame him for it doing so (who wouldn't be pissed at intentional elbows?) it's how players and teams are going to attempt to stop and slow him down.

Does that include elbows to the throat and or face area? Obviously, Bogut plays that way as he showed last year. I don't blame Cuz one bit if he responds. It's really up to the front office and ownership to say to the NBA this is BS but this is international ball. Elbows to the throat and cheap shots are not rampant inthe NBA.

This is why you carry guys like Reggie Evans and...and...and can't think of another player on our team who would play down and dirty to help protect the franchise player. Eric Moreland?

Well, while I agree he'll have to deal with guys trying to get under his skin and being a bit more physical with him, that type of elbow to the throat would be protected against in the NBA.

Refs would have reviewed the play, likely called a flagrant 2 and an ejection. FIFA refs simply suck as far as basketball goes.

YMMV on whether or not FIBA refs suck, but it had nothing to do with that play. That wasn't an example of FIBA refs "sucking," so much as it was an example of that being a "legal" play in FIBA.
 
Maybe the dirty play of the Lithuanians will motivate Rudy to go that much harder come regular season for Sacramento. I'd love any extra motivation to play harder and more physical.

He's in a contract year and most likely wants to get noticed by a contender for next season if that does not motivate him nothing will

This is common sense. Who in the NBA will allow an opposing player to elbow them in the throat? If anything Cousins should receive praise for showing tremendous restraint.
