Boogie All Star stuff -- Cousins Named All Star Reserve

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Given some of the other names these buffons were throwing on, I'm not sure it would be an honor for Cuz to be on nearly every ballot or not, nonetheless, if the coaches **** him over this time, they'll be alone, and there will kind of a be a problem to it:

Oh, and yes, the wonderful Zach Lowe, who still has never recovered from the bruised ego Cuz put on him by blowing up. No, not obvious Lowe has a personal problem with Cuz at all:

Willie was left off the Rising Stars Challenge BTW. Too much time missed I would imagine, + the new format (U.S. vs. World) sucks for your chances if you are an American player.

Lowe's comment is hilarious.

It's the type of build up you have before you say, "But Cousins has also been the most dominant player in the NBA over the last month and is the only player in the top five for both scoring (3rd) and rebounding (4th) with numbers that are continuing to improve."

Or the type of justification you try to give for not putting a guy with very clear all-star bonifides on your personal all-star team.

But instead he just trotted out a list of negatives on a guy who he is picking for the All-Star game.

Well, at least Boogie was a unanimous selection among the TNT guys.

And that's too bad about WCS. It also looks like he was hurt by this format not enforcing a balance between rookies and second years, there seems to be way too many of the latter. Even under the traditional format, though, I could see him facing an uphill battle, as many of this year's prominent rookies are also bigs.

I'd be more worried about whether format will keep Cauley-Stein off of the All-Rookie team?

And to think that some of those simpletons vote for postseason awards.

Honestly, they should have a panel that reviews these writers/voters and anyone consistently displaying an obvious agenda should be 86'd.

BTW, Lowe had already proven to be an idiot long before his anti-Demarcus campaign. The guy couldn't find a coherent sentence with two hands and a flashlight.

That Zach Lowe guy never fails to deliver. But hey, as long as you pepper your "analysis" with words like "might be", "probably" and "perhaps" - you can write whatever the hell you want and it's still ESPN-kosher!

Good to see national figureheads to slowly come around on Big Cuz. Only took putting up historic numbers for a couple straight years...

We need Cuz rested to make a playoff push anyway playing in some WWF type of game is a waste of his energy.

I sometime disagree with him about certain subjects (including Cousins), but come on- he is clearly one of the best NBA writers out there... some comments here about him are straight up ridiculous.

BTW here's a part of a conversation between him and Bill Simmons in October 2014 (http://www.sactownroyalty.com/2014/...s-cousins-sacramento-kings-narrative-nba-rank):

"Lowe: He has made strides every season. This should be a monster year for him - a chance for his first All-Star appearance... Boogie keeps getting better. He's a beast. That contract is a steal. He mostly tries on defense now. I know it's hard to believe, but trying helps! He's also the new king of the one-man fast break that could end in disaster for literally every one of the 10 guys on the floor."

I know the hate for him around here might stem from an article in 2013- my toughts on that article can be summed by the start of this article:

"If there was a Mount Rushmore of current day NBA writers, Zach Lowe would be on it. You could debate endlessly for the remaining three spots, but Lowe is certainly a lock amongst the best NBA writers in the game today. The former SI writer and now Grantland blogger manages to put out some of the best analytical content week-in and week-out.

That said – he is wrong on DeMarcus Cousins and his future in Sacramento."

Yes but we also want him to get his reorganization despite not playing in a big market or playoff tested team. Don't want a selling point, if only you played here or there then you'd ........

The fact that we even have to root for Cuz to be an all-star this year rather than it being assumed and automatic is a total farce.

It's a complete joke. He's had the most dominant month for a big man in this league in 20 years.

This is getting ridiculous beyond all proportion.

The league should be EMBARRASSED that he's not the starter. Was thinking if I was the coach, I'd have my team commit an intentional foul 2 seconds into the game for the sole purpose of subbing in Cousins, just to make a statement.

Ah, well, Hammerman, the national knowledge of Cuz is that he is very good but he is crazy. I will bet people from any city except Sacramento and maybe the Bay Area see him as fatally flawed. It's too bad but the Kings and Boogie will have the last laugh.

Not if he doesn't make it into the playoffs.

And with this flawed of a team, with everyone except Rondo, Willie, and Cuz getting worse, that is getting less likely every game.

No, the comments are spot on. The fact that you think he is one of the best writers out there is a tad scary. It's either an indictment on writers in general or your compass is off.

Perhaps you'd be so kind as to help @Amit149 and me out, then, and direct us to some examples of Lowe's "poor" basketball writing? Because, aside from his pettiness being on fleek, I'm not seeing any indication that he's actually bad at his job. And I'm not the type to consider "not being petty" to be a job requirement for a sports writer, so I hope that's not it?

Any examples of technically poor writing? Any stories he wrote about a team that wasn't Sacramento, that he flat was wrong about? Because, if you do have some examples, but they all have to do with the Kings, I'm going to need a little more than that.

I guess this can go here since the conversation has included All-Star weekend in general. :)

Unfortunately for him there are not enough NBA fans or casual NBA fans that is, that appreciate Boogie enough to warrant enough votes for him to garner a starting spot despite his dominating performance. As long as he gets voted in the game by the coaches, I could care less if he starts really. I want wins more than anything else, the recognition will come with it.

I feel bad for Zaza. He is a solid NBA player. However, his home country stuffing the ballot box makes the conversation turn to "What? Zaza an all-star? You're crazy!" He is most certainly not an all star but is a good player.

Happened in ice hockey recently - a guy who won the fan vote had to get traded and demoted to their D league to keep him off the all star team. crazy stuff - and cruel to the player involved.

Was such a dick move by the league. Uprooting Scott's family in the process. Really offensive stuff.

My predictions for Kings at AS Weekend:

-- Boogie voted in as All-Star Reserve

-- Casspi selected to 3-Point Shootout

-- Rondo selected to Skills Challenge/chosen as second All-Star injury replacement

Remember the slur incident when predicting Rondo is going to get named by the commissioner/league.
