Bonzi Wells

Standing there in ARCO with 17,316 of my closest personal friends and chanting "BON-ZI" was a moment I will never forget. After he hit about 10 rebounds, the crowd just started to explode with every succeeding board or point. When he came out for a bit of a rest the roar was thunderous. When he came back, it was even louder.

And, to answer the question, "No questions whatsoever."

BON-ZI!!!
 
He's a stud and yes we should re-sign him. He and Artest bring a toughness not recently seen to our team.

Yes, the guy is a beast and playing awesome, or as Brick put it "inspiring."
 
Great game by Bonzi. he was a beast. Bonzi just added about another 20 million to his multi-year contract after this series.

If you notice Tim Duncan was ducking out of the way of Bonzis left hand. Duncan almost got walloped.

If he doesn't get resigned along with Rick, there are going to be problems to say the least. Bonzi is a monster and he is averaging the most boards in the playoffs so far.
 
Bonzi needs an x in his name because he is definitely our X factor. As good as Kevin is doing, it would be a travesty to not throw good money at him. Hopefully he will see the potential we have and stay with us. U da man Bonzi.

Everything is different when you see a guy do it in the playoffs, especially against a team like the Spurs. We've had too many guys here that are huge in the regular season and then take a siesta for the playoffs.

Ya know, when Bonzi was with the Blazers - I HATED HIM ... he was a King's killer and I HATED HIM.

Between Artest's complete shutdown or Manu and the one-man Bonzi show... the Spurs must be second guessing their entire strategy at this point.
 
I know many of us are "memory challenged", but do you all remember when we used to shrug our shoulders and lower our heads at the recurring wimpiness of our Kings players?

Remember all the missed fairy lay-ups, missed 12-inch dunks, and total lack of rebounds?

Remember all the useless, frustrating, touch fouls as opposing players performed lay-up drills in playoff games? Two, and one!

Remember the humiliation of late-in-the-game chokes?

Remember Shack and the Sacramento Queens remarks?

Remember Kobe strutting around the floor after a buzzer-beater shots?

Well, it's not like that anymore folks. If the Kings lose, and we may well lose, the winners will be spending some serious time in the Jacuzzi. Stitches will no doubt be required. There will be no shame in Sacramento.

God save the Kings!

I think they're doing more than second-guessing their strategy. Their body language in the second half said it all...they knew they were going to be defeated and they let it get into their heads big time.

One thing about the Spurs hasn't changed. They can still be taken out of their game by getting into their heads.

But its not ever close to the same level. What Bonzi is doing -- its star level stuff. Or maybe even after a couple of years of adulation from the Arco faithful, Bonzi might be willing to move to the bench to become a bigger Bobby. Regardless, you don't give up players capable of not only playing at this level, but of inspiring.

I'm not talking about letting Bonzi walk, but fielding S&T offers. Bonzi has had a very good, mature year, and an excellent playoffs so far. But the NBA is riddled w/ guys who had character issues, pulled it together long enough to sign a max deal, and then reverted or settled into mediocrity. Bonzi has had issues about playing time before, and Kevin will be bucking for PT for the forseeable future. What if Bonzi gets hurt again, Kevin performs in his absence again, and Bonzi is not reinserted into the starting lineup immediately upon return? A guy in a contract year and a guy sitting on a max deal view that scenario a lot differently. How did CWebb like coming off the bench?

Bonzi's return hinges on a lot of factors I think. Not least of which is the return of Adelman.
 
As much as I love Kevin and want him to start, the way Bonzi is playing right now it would be crazy to not resign Bonzi. The only way he should make his exit is if the FO were able to S&T him for a legit big, but that's a bad PR move if they were to do that anyway.

Bonzi's production was basicly the same for quite a few years now - check per 48 minutes stats. It is playing time that was lacking. Sure right now he is collecting stats that are better than he is but it's the way Spurs allow Kings to play. They pick their poison and Kings(Artest included to my very surprise) don't force anything. So if in a year Kings will have to play Spurs and SA will employ the same gameplan I'm sure you will see the same from Bonzi.
 
I think we shouldn't go crazy yet. Bonzi's had a great, amazing series. But this shouldn't be the only thing to factor into the decision. Can't we just talk about the offseason in the offseason?

Thank you. Its the playoffs, lets talk about how we can get another game like this from Bonzi so we can beat the Spurs tomorrow...not whether we can sign him or not. Lets take this thing one day at a time. Even if we don't advance past the Spurs, the offseason is still a long way off. We'll have plenty of time to debate stuff like that then.
