Bonzi Going Banzai

Who thinks Bonzi will go Banzai this year with the Kings?

Yes...on what scale, I don't know. But if we're winning and he's getting significant PT, I think he'll be fine. Don't expect him to avoid technical fouls, though.

Going Bonzai is a big blowup, not just a little problem. I should have made that clearer.

doubtful.... it'd be nice to see, someone to actually show some fire in their bellies....

Mmm...not sure you want to see the sort of "bonzai" that Bonzi is prone to. As oft as not he runs that bayonet through his own team and then goes and commits hari-kari just to top things off.

I think bonzi will keep his cool this year because he wants to prove himself, we all know that hes a great player but hes been known for being a problem child in portland and memphis, so besides the occasional techical foul i think he'll be just fine.

bonzai is a small tree right? You mean go Samurai?
Main Entry: ban·zai
Pronunciation: (")bän-'zI, 'bän-"
Function: noun
Etymology: Japanese
: a Japanese cheer or war cry

-----------------------------------------

Main Entry: bon·sai
Pronunciation: (")bOn-'sI, 'bOn-", 'bän-" also 'bän-"zI
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural bonsai
Etymology: Japanese, literally, tray planting
: a potted plant (as a tree) dwarfed and trained to an artistic shape by special methods of culture; also : the art of growing such a plant

Banzai is what I meant. Bonzai doesn't exist. And Bonsai is the tree.

In early Japanese history, culture was associated with the imperial court, and warriors were accorded low status. The samurai became important with the rise in private estates (shoen), which needed military protection. Their power increased, and when Minamoto Yoritomo became the first shogun (military ruler) of the Kamakura period (1192–1333), they became the ruling class. They came to be characterized by the ethic of bushido, which stressed discipline, stoicism, and service.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I could only hope Bonzi Wells would go samurai, it would be quite rewarding for his team.

So what is the question supposed to be?

Is Bonzi going to turn into a tree?

Is Bonzi going to become a fierce warrior?

Is Bonzi going to go off the deep end, as he has before?

Sorry, but I cannot vote in a poll that makes no sense.

^^ Im guessing at ''turn into a tree'' ;) on the basis that the other members of our starting 5 all too often appear rooted to the floor whenever a defensive rebound is a vague possibility.

How does it make no sense? You have your definitions of Banzai confused.

Is Bonzi going to turn into a tree? no, that is a bonsai.
Is Bonzi going to become a fierce warrior? no, thats a samurai
Is Bonzi going to go off the deep end, as he has before? That is the BANZAI we are talking about, now answer the question ;)

lol, judging by your avatar Thesanityannex, if he does go crazy then he wont be the first!

From what ive read his contract is initially quite short, so it doesnt sound as though we've taken a huge risk. (hopefully)

I don't mind a few elbows being thrown by my Kings, I'm just hoping his anger and craziness can inspire his team, rather than divide.

Talk about someone missing the point...

;)

My post was a summary of how your question was being interpreted, all because you chose to make a play on words instead of simply asking what you wanted to know.

For the record, Japanese pilots screamed "Bonzai" as they committed the ultimate warrior act, diving their planes into Allied ships during World War II. So, Bonzi going "Bonzai" could indeed mean he is going to become an ultimate warrior.

And I haven't even gotten into Buckaroo Banzai or Banzai boards.

Ok this thread belongs in the Japanese tree growing forum....and the Japanese History forum too. That or the imconfusedanonymous.com website.

I voted yes, but I don't think it will be a large enough "Bonzai" to cause any damage to the team. I think he can manage his emotions and work with the team while still being a bit crazy.

It is a contract year for him. He would be a fool to screw up this year. He could come out play to his full potential and get a nice payday from somebody next year.
