Hall of Famer
A good one here - a game that is known as "Clark struck again."
On February 27th 2003 Kings beat Mavs on the road in OT 126 - 124 to improve to 41 - 18 for the season. it was a great game by both teams. 7 Kings were in double figures lead by Pedja's 36/10/2, Mike had 17/3/6, Webber had 16/10/6, DC had 10/10/6 and Vlade had 12/5/6. Bobby had 17/7/3 of the bench. Clark had 12/11 with a GW basket as the time expired. Expression on Cuban's face was priceless.

Keon Clark has given the Dallas Mavericks a sickening case of double vision.Clark struck again, sinking a short jumper with four-tenths of a second left in overtime to give the Sacramento Kings a thrilling 126-124 victory over the Mavericks.

Peja Stojakovic had 36 points and 10 rebounds to lead four
players with double-doubles for the Kings, who have won five
straight games. Clark had 12 points and 11 rebounds off the
bench.

Sacramento lost superstar forward Chris Webber to fouls in the
fourth quarter but erased a seven-point deficit in the final 90
seconds. It lost center Vlade Divac to fouls in overtime but
held Dallas without a basket in the extra session.

"We're a team that has always tried to keep team chemistry,"
Webber said. "I just kept on telling the guys, 'We all believe
in each other.' We've got five other guys on that bench that
are ready to play."

"We just played hard and kept playing hard," Bibby said.
"Everybody probably didn't give us a chance to come back. We
stuck in there. Bobby stuck some big shots, Peja hit some big
shots ... We stayed in there and kept fighting and it paid off."

"We're very proud of our effort," Webber said. "Wins like this
definitely bring you closer together because you are a team.
Very rarely do you get to show how in this type of situation
your team can come together. We're very happy about that."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings (25 - 30) have already "collected" 30 losses and the end of the season is far, far away. Kings coming of the worst loss of the season in a game that meant a lot in many ways - "build" some distance to a PO spot.
Still 3 games behind with enough time left but also enough road games left too. At least we are on a big winning streak at home which will keep us close but if we are going to make up ground - it will be on the road. Kings still 10th but Rockets are coming strong and if they stay healthy they will make PO and it might be on our expense. This game is the last one before we go to the East for the last time this season on a 5 games road trip. Remember the last road trip ?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trade deadline finally passed. Kings did not do enough to make a difference this season. Probably because - it was nothing out there. We closed the pyramide on the Pharaoh and solidified the "east block contingent." We got Potapenko the former winner of TDM award who will play as much as Corliss but will not keep a diary. We also got Monia. I don't know how much he will get to play but he is the 2nd best defender on this team. Since we are not going anywhere - we might as well try to develop him.
We still don't have a backup PG of any kind and we are extremely soft in the middle. It will be a long summer.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know that we are forced to lower our standards but the way that Kings play BB these days sucks. Big time. Defense has improved but that only made us mediocre at best. The offense is gone. There is no system, no plan, nothing. Spacing is horrible, shot selection pathetic. 75% of the time only 2 players touch the ball per posession. No patience, no leadership. Everyone looks at Ron waiting for him to do it all. BB is still a team game.
If You add the fact that our young players suck on the road and that we can't hadle the zone anymore mainly because Bibby is the only one threat that we have and he is the defensive focus now - You get what You see.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The more things change - the more they stay the same. Ron has been here foe a month or so and he is allready blamed for everything. Yes, he sucked the last game but at least he was trying. Sometimes that is all You can do. He took bad shots and missed them. He tried defensively but he is clearly not healthy or in shape to deal with Kobe at this moment. Still he can't be held accountable for the whole team. He can't guard all 5 opponents on the floor. He can't cover for 4 other characters wearing Kings uniform - who are getting abused possesion, after possesion, after possesion. If any other kings player would "suck" as much as Ron - we would have more wins - for sure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The way we play - doesn't give an impression that we really want to get into PO. They don't look like the mean it. They are all talk right now. There is no sense of urgency. Not even playing Lakers can get them to play hard anymore. DFG had to give them the lecture on the intensity You need to win big gameas. DFG knew how important this game was. Now, Mike is the only one left who knows the importance of playing such games but still. If You looked at Lakes bench - You could clearly see that it wasn't just a game to them. Pretty pathetic - if you ask me.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Every loss to the Lakers is hard to swallow simply because it is not just another game. This one was very hard to accept because of the way it happened. It is very dissapointing to see our player not even attempting to offer any resistance.Let's just forget the fact that we played Lakers. We played a team that was/is above us in the standing. We played the team
that we were/are trying to catch. . This was as big a game in a regular season as you can have. At least You can do is fight. We did not do it. We put "our tail between our legs" went in a dark corner and cried. In such a game You don't only try to win - You also try to send a message. Well, Lakers sure sent a message. Will see wheather we received it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
What else to say about the last game except wishing that it never happened. they owned us in every which way. DFG was the man. They were better in every cathegory. We were outcoached, outplayed, outworked. Not good.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, another home game coming up. Blazers are beatable but they already burned us this season. I hope that the streak continue considering the road trip coming up. We will respond mainly because it is a home game. Blazers have worse road record than we do. If we don't jump on them early it could be long night.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - a "laker killer" run out of amunition early which did not stop him from shooting blanks. Provided 0 leadership and was usless defensively. Come on Mike - You know better.
Brad - hit shots early but his rebound alergy was acting up again. Oh boy.
Ron - pills working well. Not healthy, not in shape and has a horriblr shot selection. Still the only 2 way player we have.
SAR - not the way to win his old job back. He was as good as Kwarme
Bonzi - come on man - we need You
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin - should only play at home. At least save money for the plane ticket.
Cisco - at least he is trying
KT - he would be solid if we can get him to rebound and do nothing else.
Corliss - keep writing man
Hart - You need a spark of the bench and You are looking for Bobby and all You can find is Jason Hart - give me a break
Sampson/Price - mateen
Skinner - good luck Pharaoh
Monia/Potapenko - welcome and good luck - You will need it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
RA - again got "smoked" by PJ. Couldn't come up with anything.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blazers suck but it does not mean anything. If Joel plays - he will be the man.
Randolph will not be guarded. Will see what Skinner can do. My TDM favorite is Dixon. We will have to take them very seriously.

Sad, but true.

I fear that it is already "WIN OR GO HOME" time for us- in more ways than one. This coming road trip will determine if we make the playoffs or not and it is not encouraging.

We can beat the Blazers, but it will not be easy. Looks like Bonzi will be out for a while longer, so hopefully Martin will still perform well at home.

Maybe these days off with good practices together will make a difference.

By the way, Piksi, I never thought anybody could make me miss Keon, but you did - at least for a few minutes!!!

Kings win.

I don't think Ron has a horrible shot selection, usually 2 or 3 shots he shouldn't of taken. Other than the Memphis game where he and the team was tired.

What a good game that was.....

See everyone there. I got the hook up with 4th row :P

this whole losing thing sucks..... but i'll be okay....

go kings....

That was an awesome game... wasn't that the one where Bobby (allegedly) called "bank" before hitting that tying three? At least he claimed he did afterward... ahh memories.

Bravo, piksi...

I'd make that my signature but it's a little too long.

will the two new king play in this game? and will Bonzi finally comeback?
It is questionalble if the " two new Kings" will play anything but garbage time this season. RA might give them a look after they have had a few games in practice under thier collective belt, but seriously, he almost never played Skinner so don't expect much from his replacements.

No doubt chelle...it's coming down every game being a MUST WIN game.

It blows me away that RA said that Saturday's practice was lacksuckter. You'd think we'd be able to get really pissed after Thursday and dig up some resemblence of FOCUS!?

Still, maybe if we continue to believe it'll rub off on the players and they'll take care of business on the road: GO KINGS!

This may belong in a different thread, but I have heard nothing about his return and I was wandering if I was the only one? Is there any word out of Sacto as to when he will return?

Second, It looks apperehent that KT is now in the starting lineup, you may want to change your format to reflect this.

kings win, bringing the die hard, we're-certain-they-are-playoff-bound fans, out once again from the woodwork ;)

You can get whiplash around here from "playoffs are guaranteed when we finish 18-2!!!" to "it's over, we're done" from game to game. :)

I go more quarter to quarter!;)

I've been known more than once to actually change my mind...and my outlook...in the middle of a post in the PBP.

;)

I am exspecting a close game tonight..Blazers and Kings at Arco always seem to be tight kinda games. Portland played well enough to win last night night but in the end it just slipped away from them. I think the Kings will win though.

When is Bonzi coming back??
