All right, release that thought (from Mystery Player A, ranked no. 32 in Part 1). Contrast these 2011-12 numbers …
Mystery Player A: 29.4 MPG, 16.2 PPG, 11.4 RPG, 1.2 APG, 1.2 BPG, 43% FG, 73% FT, 21 PER
Mystery Player B: 32.7 MPG, 16.4 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 2.5 APG, 0.6 BPG, 50% FG, 79% FT, 23 PER

Slight edge to Player B, right?
OK, so let's say Player B is a normal guy … and Player A is an unpredictable loose cannon who may or may not have just gotten his first coach fired a few weeks ago. Now which guy are you taking?
Here's the point: Boogie Cousins gets more hype than Greg Monroe; he got drafted two picks ahead of him; his upside seems like it should be higher; he's more fun to follow; he has a better nickname; and he's always going to seem a little more overpowering when he has it going. In the Grantland headquarters, we've probably had 20 Boogie Cousins conversations and 135 moments where Jay Kang cackled, "I LOVE BOOGIE!!!!" I don't remember anyone discussing Greg Monroe even once. I'm not even sure half our staff knows what he looks like. Just know that Sacramento would flip Boogie for Monroe in a cocaine heartbeat … and if the roles were reversed, Detroit would hang up

Bill Simmons knows considerably less about basketball than I do. He's an entertainer -- paying any serious attenton to what he says is like listenting to Shaq.

What's sad is that Monroe can't stop Cousins from shooting 50% while I'm sure anyone on this board could.

Monroe is great but Cousins potential is still better. And Cousins personality that Simmons is ripping on can be turned into a positive competitive one. Monroe doesn't have that leader personality at all. He's like Kevin Martin.

Their stats do look the same but we have to try and see the game. We throw the ball to cousins and run the offense through him. Whereas from the few games I have seen Monroe's doesn't have the same role on his team.

Bill Simmons is terrible. His articles/statements/pod casts are always terribly ignorant. As Brick says he is an "entertainer", I have no respect for him as I feel most of the things he says are loaded in that there only purpose is to create controversy and give him more airtime.

Simmons made a comment about Rubio not figuring i advanced stats all that well, showing that there is limits to that sort of diagnosis of a player. The theory here that Rubio is making his team happy and has a positive impact by his mere presence.

He should apply that to Cousins, but I am not sure he watches enough of Cousins. Cousins has a noticeable impact on the game. The way he's used forces him to get those stats mostly by himself. Monroe plays with veterans. He gets touches through a system. Cousins is a big man playing without a point guard and he still dominates far more than Monroe does.

His points aren't completely off base, the article is entirely an opinion/light hearted comedic piece and he treats it very much as such.

Just because you don't agree with his opinion doesn't mean you have to rip him and basically call him an idiot.

Oh, but he is. Just being given a pen doesn't make you good at a particular sport. Basketball isn't his. He's got no more ability to judge the talent and potential of a Greg Monroe vs. a DeMarcus Cousins, let alone our front office's feelings on the matter, than your grandmother. Less if she's a diehard fan and has been following the league for decades.

Ah I see, so if your grandmother were a diehard fan and been following the league for decades she would be a better judge of NBA talent than Bill Simmons?

How exactly are you quantifying his basketball knowledge? He's just as qualified as any superfan/blogger.

The article was done with light hearted humor, no need to have so much anger.

You sure think a lot of yourself.
Dude, he's (we're) talking about BILL SIMMONS. Bill. Simmons. There are at least 15 regular posters around here that know more about basketball than Bill Simmons, Brick of course among them.

Do you seriously think that just because that dude has a radio show that it's impossible for a regular Joe to know more about basketball that him? Cause that is exactly what you are implying with your asinine, snarky little comment.

Stop worshipping celebrity.

If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, and looks like a duck, Well, I'll let you finish it.

Not saying Bill is the God of all basketball knowledge, but why do you think those posters would know more about basketball than him?

So the fact that he thinks the Kings would swap Cousins for Monroe in a "cocaine minute" isn't enough for you? Whatever you're smoking homie, don't lose that dealer's number.

The burden is on you to prove that BS DOES know more about basketball than our senior posters.

The other reason is that I've been reading this board for 10 years (date to left is due to the meltdown) and I know them well. Stop typing before you embarrass yourself any further.
