That's a crazy stat line. I hope Embiid stays healthy and leads his team into the Finals eventually. He's incredible.

I know you have your own rules for this stuff, and it's biased for my dislike of Randle's game, but to see Randle get the award for 25/11 and AD get nothing for his crazy steal/block fest on top of 37/21 makes me question the validity of this whole endeavor.

I'm going to be honest with you: I don't like Randle's game, either. It just so happens that he did "enough" for the award on Monday night. That being said, as I look at his game logs, it appears as though the last few games have lifted his percentage of three-point attempts above my personal "Big Man" threshold, so I will likely be relegating him to "Tall Man," unless or until that percentage drops.

As far as Davis, it's unfortunate, but it bees like that sometimes. I went to bed before the game was over but, before I turned the TV off, I think he had already hit 30/15, or something close to that, and I said to myself, "Welp, it's a damned shame that he's not going to get it for a performance like that..."

No award, if your team loses. No exceptions. Well, let me amend that, slightly: if a guy put up, like, a 50/30 triple double with blocks, and his team somehow still lost, I think I'd feel compelled to give it to him, anyway.

There is value in getting a win. Putting up big numbers in a loss lessons the value of the big numbers.

For some reason it amuses me that your rank of "Tall Man" is a demotion from "Big Man".

I can't even take credit for that; I stole it from Bomani Jones. I don't think we use the same definitions, though: he's more of a "I'll know it when I see it" type, whereas I try to maintain something that I think resembles a consistent criteria.

Evan Mobley: 20/13/1/0/1 versus Pistons

  1. This entire update is basically a formality. I saw Zubac's line in the second box score I looked at and said, "I don't need to see nothing else."
  2. John Collins having his best game of the season on an afternoon where his team gave up a double-digit lead feels revelatory. Of what, I am not yet sure.
