Got it . I had a feeling this wasn't new news.
What's next in our expectations? City Council this week or next? Two weeks until BOG committee first review? Four weeks until first chance to get BOG decision? If we grt our wish and get a "no" to Seattle, any time frame on the rest, the sale of Kings to locals? The Kings would stay but ownership would be the issue. Just scratching my head out loud.

If the BoG says "no" to the relocation to Seattle, the Hansen deal is off and we're back to where we were before. The Maloofs own the team and are free to keep the team, look for offers, accept the Sacramento offer that would be on the table, or negotiate for something else.
There's no timeline to what happens after the Seattle move is rejected.

Unfortunately you are correct except I think the Maloofs financial situation and some arm twisting if not outright takeover by the NBA may settle it all this year. Why drag it out if you are a Maloof when you know the NBA will not accept your childish hissy fit against Sacramento?

The BoG vote IS NOT Maloofs Vs Hansen. The BoG vote IS Burkle Vs Hansen. Maloofs pretty much have cornered themselves here by publicly announcing the team is up for sale. Under no circumstances do I see the brothers retaining ownership of the team. Unless they are stupid. OK, I guess I found myself such a circumstance.

Eh - I don't know if I agree. What's the point? Who will this influence? Who is this targeted to? Public? Owners? NBA fans?
The thing is, I think if we get an arena deal hammered out, the Kings stay. This road trip won't do ANYTHING to get an arena deal hammered out. He should be helping raise local support for the City to pass the arena deal, not tootling across the countryside talking to fans that have no influence and no vote. He should be using these funds to help fill up the arena for the last few home games like HereWeBuy to show the local support of the team. There are other ways to have more impact (I would think) than this.
Does he really think the owners care about a road trip? They are the ones voting.

I think owners would be impressed by a community that goes on a road trip to tout the Kings staying in Sacramento. I presume KJ is applying his charm directly to the owners. He implied that he would or at least to specific owners most likely to vote our way. CD covers an extra base.

Agreed... I'm sure that if the BoG rejects the Seattle deal the league will step in and pressure the Clowns into selling or simply take over.
I personally don't see the harm in attacking on another front.
You guys at CrownDowntown are doing an incredible job rallying the troops at the local level, getting them to attend events and promote awareness of the whole situation. If Dave can promote our plight and garner some attention from other markets, I don't see how it can possibly hurt anything. If it gets media attention in the various cities, then it does more to underline to the BoG just how serious fans of the Sacramento Kings are about keeping their team. And it also puts a challenge out there ... Do the owners want to vote to take a team away from the fans who have done so much to show their support, even when the odds were against them?
At this point, I honestly believe we need every voice we can get doing whatever they can to keep the issue out there. The squeaky wheel keeps its team.

Theoretically I think you are right, the more publicity for our cause the better. But in this case I just don't know what/how he will be publicizing and how much attention it will get. What is he "attacking" with this? Who is he trying to convince and how? What is he actually going to DO?
Don't get me wrong. I hope he knocks it out of the park, 100,000 fans swarm his bus at every potty break stop, and millions of fans go marching on NBA headquarters singing a "Kumbaya / Keep the Kings in Sac" remix with George Maloof, Chris Hansen, and Ballmer naked in a cage on top of the bus at the time of the BOG vote.
Will some local publicity at each stop really DO anything? Is he going to be able to draw any significant crowd anywhere? How? Just by showing up? They haven't been able to get 5 people to go to a City Council meeting! What is going to be the takeaway if he draws 20 folks at Denver? Is that going to be riveting video that the BOG just can't ignore?

I think it is definitely good PR. Seeing fans going to that length as Carmichael Dave is doing will bring emotional sway to the media and BOG meeting

If Sacramento comes through with the arena deal and comparable bid, it seems likely that we will be the 'underdog', and public sentiment will be on our side. I think this will be enhanced by C Dave's tour, and that could help even more. The NBA doesn't want another PR disaster a la Sonicsgate, and the more nationwide support that we have, the more the NBA will suffer a huge black eye if they don't support us. (assuming the offers and arena deals are comparable...)
So, I think the Playing To Win tour can do nothing but good things for our cause.

We don't know exactly how much media Dave's tour is going to generate.. best case scenario is that it can take on a life of its own, and be featured on Inside the NBA etc.
I think he has done a pretty darn good job overall doing what he can to help keep the Kings here. It just seems strange that for someone who has repeatedly said (paraphrasing here) that "if the arena gets approved the team is staying, no contest", why the publicity tour instead of spending this last week before the City Council vote helping to make sure the arena actually, you know, gets approved?
I have already said, in bold, that I hope he is wildly successful. I just said it again. I just don't think that it is likely the best use of resources with one week to go here in Sacramento. If the City Council doesn't vote yes, the trip he is on is moot. After next week's vote he would still have 3 weeks to embark on such a trip to promote the "yes" vote if we get one! The CC vote is, in all probability, the key to the Kings staying. We already have game announcers and talking heads on national TV/sports programs as well as coaches saying they want the team to stay - national attention on the issue is already swinging our way.

Likely, but we haven't even heard the "deal" details yet. I'm not counting any chickens before they hatch.

I don't see the point. It's not that it's a bad idea, but I don't think it's the best idea either. Going from city to city to rally support from NBA fans? Why? Say a few hundred fans show up to the bus/van in SLC, and you educate them on our struggle and what Sac is doing. What good exactly does that do? So maybe a few hundred fans in each city become educated. What impact exactly is that supposed to make? Is there another idea that might make more of an impact? Probably.
And, it doesn't seem very well thought out. Tonight at 8 they leave for Oakland. I'm in the Bay Area, maybe I'd stop by. Yet, there's no info on the Oakland stop. They leave tonight for Oakland, yet they haven't even provided information on the first stop? All it says is details coming soon. Are they just going to show up at a GS game for a couple hours with little warning, then move on? Hope to talk to a couple hundred fans? Then off to LA?
A criticism which has followed Dave is he lacks advanced timing. He's slow and behind the ball in letting people know what he's doing. There were events the last couple years where he doesn't put the info out until the day of, on twitter, then expects a large group to show up. And its been brought to his attention, that people would show up if they knew ahead of time and had advanced warning. Yet, this seems like another example of a not too well thought out plan with little warning ahead of time.
