Bibby to Cleveland...on again, off again, etc.

Why do I get the odd feeling that our Petrie will pull off something not even discussed on KingsFans.com but that will make 72% of us happy? And no one will have a clue until it happens. He is so cool that way. But rest assured, Bibby will go back east, assuming he goes.

Somehow, with the 6 bigs we have now, 2 of those will be gone in a Bibby deal. The PF spot is still the key here. SAR/Thomas we all know are not the solution. But is Watkins? or Williams? or Mikki Moore? or even Miller? he played the 4 with Vlade quite a bit. So if a Gooden comes in, he starts at the 4. Most other trade discussions seem to bring in fodder and expirings and .......... It MUST be 5 o'clock SOMEWHERE !!!
It would makes sense based on what our current roster looks like. But where does 72% come from? I'd figure you'd pick some nice figure like 70% or 75% but 72? Or maybe you just do everything in multiples of 12? ;)

72% of us are easy to please. All the front office has to do is to unload one or more guys who are over age 25 and replace them with players who are not older, slower, less athletic, or on even worse contracts. Most of the NBA qualifies on all 4 counts.

I Still Want Gibson in the Deal

He's 21, athletic, hits big shots, drives in traffic, plays defense, 88% free throw shooter in the playoffs - as a ROOKIE. If you want to go young and athletic, it shouldn't even be an argument. If we needed to do something to match salaries or give a players, include Douby in the deal. I'd much rather have Gibson than Douby. Maybe Douby can become Gibson, but right now I'd rather have the certainty of Gibson being Gibson. I'm not saying that Gibson should be the main piece in the deal, but if I'm Petrie, I WANT Gibson in the deal.

The problem is that 100% of the other GMs in the league don't want our less athletic, bad contract players.

I think it's more likely Petrie doesn't get anything done. Our players aren't very movable, and the teams who seemed to be the best potential fit for Bibby and Artest have either signed players that make Bibby or Artest redundant, or don't have anything to trade the Kings that would be equal value.

It's not what he has done, it's what he will do. He's only been one year in the league and has shown exception poise in the playoffs, as well as all the other attributes I mentioned. James didn't create all those shots for him, and he certainly didn't make the pressure free throws, or had much if anything to do with him driving through traffic for layups. If I compare him as a rookie to Bibby as a rookie, or to J Will as a rookie, he's definitely better in my book. He's the kind of guy you want to take a flier on. And like he said, he wouldn't be the centerpiece of the deal, but I'd definitely want him.

how many great games did he have? i'm not impressed w/ the guy. he didn't do anything against the spurs. lebron took most of the pressure off the guy when defenses focus in on him.

we have 2 projects in price and douby ... price hasn't resigned but im hopeful he will when bibby gets shipped out. we haven't really seen what we have because we had a high school JV coach in muss. he was stupid in continually playing the vets to run up the score so the losses didn't look so bad.

I agree something is going to get done without rumors. Like With the Miller, Bibby and Webber trades there wasn't 3 weeks worth of rumors at best there was 3 hours or rumors. Now the Peja Artest trade rumors were like 2 years worth but, that the only one I can think of that was rumored for a while. Like a theif in the night GP works. take the Mikki Moore signing for example.

Cleveland would not have won against Detroit without Gibson. There's no question about it. Not only did he come up with big shots on offense, he was excellent on Billups on defense. He handled Billups, stuffed him several times. He also has a Martin element to him in that he can get to the line a lot and he is an outstanding free throw shooter under pressure. What I really found impressive was that he also was a good finisher on his drives, even in traffic. I don't think this guy is a fluke. He's got some major upside to him. I think of him as a younger, more athletic Bibby, who actually can play some D. If Cleveland wants to win that badly NOW and take Bibby, then I hope Petrie is smart enough to get him, rather than getting some mediocre vet who's been in the league for 8-10 years and isn't going to get any better. Look, this guy is soooo much better than Price because he's so much better offensively, and he's better than Douby because he is soooo much cooler under pressure. I'd trade both Douby and Price to get him.

anybody that is a decent shooter can look like an allstar when defenses consistently give them open looks. ask damon jones when he was w/ the heat. your basing gibson's defense skizzills on chauncey "washed up" billups?? the guy has clearly lost a step from logging all those minutes. where was gibson when he was defending a real PG parker?? i'll tell you.

EM EYE A.

at least compare gibby against some of the better point guards if your gonna use it as a reference. its like comparing bibby to fisher back in 2002 playoffs. bibby has lung cancer from smoking fisher so hard.

we haven't even seen what price or douby can do. adelman or muss didn't utilize them. if theuss does what those 2 didn't, we'll see what we have this season. anyway, i'm not gonna go goo goo and ga ga over some player that had 1 good play off series.

I'm not ready to compare Gibson to the best PG in the league. I don't think that's close to being fair. How would any of our current guards fare against Parker? I'ts not like we can run out and get the starting PGs at Utah or New Orleans. But if I compare Gibson to any of our PGs, well then I think he compares very favorably. Also, it's rubbish that any pg is going to look great with open looks. Not in the playoffs, that's for sure. That's choke city for a lot of pgs and others as well. Also, like I said, this kid actually drived and finished among the tall timber in the playoffs; he just didn't hit wide open shots.

i agree with the fact that gibson is overrated he had a great series against a declining detriot pistons, and when matched up with a superior team as the spurs gibson strayed away from the spotlight and hid out in the shadows, mike is by far a better overall player, and bibby is clutch, gibson has not proven that until he does then we can talk!

i don't think parker is the best PG in the league. nash is imo. parker wouldn't be as good as he looks w/o manu and duncan. those 2 take pressure off him having to take over games. on hte other hand, nash does it ALL. he is the sole reason why they go as far as they do.

gibson is overrated. until he proves that 1 series isn't a fluke i won't be pining for him in a trade. there are plenty of other options out there (next years draft) instead of putting hopes of the future in gibson. your basing it on a few games that he looked good. hedo turkoglu looked great in the playoffs as a rookie also but we all know how he turned out.

>But if I compare Gibson to any of our PGs, well then I think he compares very favorably.

say what?? bibby would eat this fool for breakfast. you underestimate bibby's offensive talent. you know the lakers put kobe in the 2002 playoffs series to defend bibby and bibby shook him off, shot over him, drawing fouls etc.
