Bibby has got to be the most underrated and underappreciated point guard in the league... I"m glad to see he got recognition... he deserves more
I totally agree.

it weird with Mike cuz the opposing team will definetly respect his game but he doesn't get that overall general acknowledgement for being one of the best PGs in the game...league wise

BUT it was nice to see that he was featured in a segment on one of those "ankle breakers" type specials...i dunno if it actually will be on the new one or not...

Player of the month of Feb....maybe

It raises two interesting questions:

1) can he sustain at that level? If he can, those are superstar type numbers. I remain as convinced as ever that to win a championship you need to have an unstoppable superstar level player to lead you -- Mike has been it for a month and maybe he could give us a chance. Can he sustain?

2) The big red flag: we have really struggled over exactly the same time period Mike has been great. Now its very possible that the stuggles and Mike's greatness were caused by the same thing -- injuries. But its also a cautionary note: is super-Mike actually able to carry a team and make them win? Or are his numbers actually almost a bad sign? And that's against a backdrop of a lot of scoring PGs over the years who have never won an NBA title -- problem often being that while they score, they do not get their teammates involved enough. And of course a counter to that point is that offense is NOT our problem, and everyone is involved just fine -- we are losing on defense. And of course the counter to that counter ( :p ) is that maybe one of the reasons we are losing on defense is because Mike is spending so much energy on offense he doesn't have any to play defense with. And the counter to the counter to the counter is... ;)

Well I've been wondering the same things. Bibby's look a lot more tired at the end of games and he's shot a few or so clutch-time shots and they've come up short. Eddie House has been improving lately, but he still doesn't give Mike that big a break.

As for his stats and the team's success, well it's hard to say. Until now, the offense hasn't been centered around him. Guards on this team have had the job of bringing the ball up and then waiting for an open jump shot. Now with Divac, Christie and Webber gone he has become one of the better passers. Since the Mobley trade I've seen him play more like a real point guard instead of a mini-shooting guard, but since the injuries to others he's also had to provide scoring. When Peja comes back, it be nice to see Bibby drop the points down to about 20 a game based on less shots and up the passing and assists. He's never been a great creator, really an average passer for a point guard, but he has looked better lately. I really thought he would faulter without Christie there to be his crutch, both defensively and in a passing/creative sense. Bibby's got a lot more responsibility on his shoulders now.

Defensively, he still can't stop penetration, but his steals have gone up quite a bit.

Superstar? I don't know. I don't think he's a superstar till he improves his passing and learns how to use himself to get others into the flow. He could take a page from Nash and learn to keep his dribble alive more often.

A positive to this is that Mike usually looks to get the rest of the team involved before taking over and doing it himself.

I think, and I'm not going on anything other than having watched the games, that if you were to look at the scoring per quarter or per half, you might find that he has scored more later in the games. I know that his scoring in the last game was very even, but in a lot of the games in the last month or so, Mike has had the majority of those points in the second half.

congrats mike!!!!! i am so happy for you!! :D

if webb was still on our team, i'm sure he'll treat mike to dinner or something. the team supports each other. wonder what they're doing after they hear that he's POTW :)

as for POTM, i don't think it's possible. our record this month is 4-8. that's not gonna cut it. i'm sure there's someone there with almost the same, if not greater, stats as mike who has a better record for feb.

but you know, there's always march ;)

you're right, 6-8 :) sorry, just thought it off the top of my head. i know we had 8 losses. i thought we only had 12 games. :o

looking at the feb scores, bibby led the team in scoring in 10 of the 14 games.

Does it make it a little better, yes. Still not a good record for the Kings.

And to think at least 2 of those games...it could have gone Kings way. Plus, Feb had the most back to backs, I think. So it was a tough month. Kings only have 3 back to backs (I think) left until Playoff ! Plenty of time to practice and rest! :D

i do also want to mention Congrats to Jalen Rose...that guy is having a great year in Toronto but he's really not getting recognized for it cuz his team isn't the best
