I realize the title of this thread could be taken sarcastically but I truly don't mean it in a sarcastic way. :)

I'm visiting here from SpursCentral.com and, it would appear, the Spurs and Kings seem to be headed towards a first round match-up. I expect it to be a good series and a tough one, on both sides. I'm from Southern California and am actually planning a road trip to catch one of the games up there, it will be my first visit to Arco Arena.

I promise I'm not here to troll, just wanted to talk hoops with y'all.

Here's where I lose points (don't worry, I know I won't be gaining any fans with the follow couple statements). I'm a Lakers fan first and foremost, the only reason that I like the Spurs is because Robert Horry is my favorite player. Believe me, I know it's a weird combination, liking the Lakers and Spurs, but that's me. There, now that's over with.

I look forward to the series and best of luck!

First, welcome to Kingsfans.com If you're here beause you love hoops, you've found a great place to visit.

Now, about Robert Horry...

...

...

Okay, you know everything I could possibly say, so just consider it said.

;)

GO KINGS!!

If You are Lakers fan first and will be supporting Spurs and additionaly like Horry - I can only say one thing

WELCOME TO HELL;)

Welcome aboard. I'm sure I'll be reading the Spurs boards in the coming weeks. (not posting more than likely though) :)

Satan? ;)

Welcome.

If you come to ARCO, bring your earplugs. :D

I saw your thread there about a road trip - if you want some hints about places to eat in Sacramento, look here:

http://www.kingsfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11475

But let us know what you're looking for, what you like, or how mush to spend, we'd be happy to point you in the right direction.

You may be misguided in your team choice(s), but we'll treat you right if you aren't a troll. ;)

Here's to a fun series! GO KINGS!

Aw man, I wanted to do the ambassador thread! :p

I'm from SpursReport and Spurstalk but mostly SR. I recognize Evenstar but I wonder where our friend Magnificent is... maybe he's here under another name.

Anyway, I would have liked a Purple n' Yellow beatdown for old times sake (:D at MistiLynn). Obviously the Kings will be the tougher matchup... they've turned it up a notch, and there are several  hanging over the Spurs, so nothing can be taken for granted.

Well, best of luck... looking forward to a tough, exciting series.

Heh, that is weird. Spurs AND Lakers fan? Isn't that like incest or something? :)

Well it'll be nice to have fans of a new team added to the mix for once. Kinda was getting tired of Dallas and LA year after year :)

Welcome Spurs fans.

Pull up a chair, join the chit-chat, enjoy the basketball......have a good time here.:)

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

Believe me, I'm more than a little concerned at the idea of wearing an Horry jersey in Sacramento :)

Thanks for the link, that will be helpful. Any recommendations for a hotel? Any "must see" places? My last visit to Sacramento was about 10 years ago and I don't remember much.

The guess is that Game 4 will probably be on Saturday or Sunday, the 29th or 30th, so that's the target of when I'd like to head up there.

I'd be a lot more than a LITTLE concerned. I hate to admit it, but if you wear that jersey into Arco I'm really afraid you'll be so constantly harrassed by at least a few jerks that your whole experience will be marred.

How about I leave the Horry jersey at home and just bring my pink hat? It says, "got horry?" on it.

I love the double-takes when people mis-read it

Not a good idea. You can't hate Yourself that much.

Using "horry" at ARCO = using the word "bomb" in an airport these days

I try to visit San Antonio a couple times a year, they always make me leave my Lakers stuff at home (I was told if they saw anything purple and gold, they'd burn it). lol

Okay, no pink hat either.

Welcome! This may say kingsfans.com(and the obvious is TRUE) but there's a contingent of fans of different teams(including Kings fans).

As far as the whole Lakers=Horry=Spurs thing, well.....

Some of us would need emotional therapy to help deal with that, but hey it can work.

Hotel is going to depend on the price you want to pay. The Embassy Suites next to Old Sacramento is right on the river, close to some good restaurants (and Vlade's Tunel 21).

Its also not far from Arco. Also close to the Crocker Art Museum, oldest art museum west of the Mississippi and the really terrific Railroad Museum in Old Sac, one of the biggest and best in the world (it's closest competitor is in England).

If you want a less expensive hotel/motel, there are still some in and around downtown, that are fine. Arco's maybe 10 minutes max from downtown. Oh, the Sheraton downtown is nice and the Esquire Grill is right there. Mikuni's is a pretty hot restaurant downtown right now (sushi).

I've got Hilton Honors points so the Embassy Suites suggestion is a good one!
Muchos gracias

Sutter's Fort is downtown, if you want to see what every elementary school kid here gets to see one too many times and learn a bit about the history of the Gold Rush.

Old Sacramento (Old Sac) is literally across the street from that hotel - go wander through. There's a Laughs Unlimited there too if you want some comedy thrown in. Joe's Crab Shack and a couple of the Fats places are there, as is a more upscale restaurant. You can't go wrong with the location.

The train museum is worth the visit, and there are short train rides up the river available for a few bucks as well. I'm 35 and have a wife and 3-yr old son, so you'll have to ask others about the nightlife if that's your thing.

From Old Sacramento you can walk under I-5 to the K Street Mall and do some shopping, if you like.

At least drive by the State Capitol building.

What else do you want to know? :)

Oh, you'll have to drive to ARCO, as our illustrious (but worthless) Light Rail system doesn't go near the 2 places it should, ARCO and Sacramento Intergalactic Airport....

Hey MistiLynn...Welcome! (Laker fan in Sactown here..) I've seen you on other Laker boards and I loved your Robert Horry video and your pics at games. I've got an Horry jersey too, but never wore it to ARCO...I get enough smack for wearing my Laker gear around town! ;)

People here are pretty cool and I hope they won't hate me for rooting for the Spurs in the first round. (As I'm assuming they're pulling for Phoenix!) :p

Once again...Welcome!

Ya know we love ya, hoopsie. And, as usual, I know you'll stay out of the game threads.

MistiLynn - That's one of the keys to being a successful visitor around here, as hoopsfan can confirm. We'll welcome you with open arms but we get real defensive during game time. When we play the Lakers, our Laker fan members - and we have several - generally just stay out of the game threads and avoid any problems.

:)

Sounds like a deal, I'll stay out of game threads.

Hoopsfan - glad to hear you enjoy my vids and photos. Thought I'd settle in here a bit before I started mentioning my game reports. :)

do you have a spurs horry jersey misti? i would think that would be welcomed better at arco then a lakers horry jersey ;)

Been collecting his jerseys over the years, I have quite a few. So yes, I his Spurs jerseys.

A joke worth a laugh no matter which forum I'm at. lol

This is kinda funny, I was expecting spurs fans to come over after the artest quote. Whats even more funny is that more spurs fans are talking about that artest quote then kings fans.

As long as kingsfans.com stays a professional enviorment I dont mind spurs fans over here.
