Belinelli signs with the Kings 3 years 19mil

Hall of Famer
Former three point shooting champ...I like this signing. I remember him on Golden State and playing in the summer league...he sure has come a long way. He has playoff experience too which will be great for Ben. He will be a nice bench player to put in there. Now we could use another big man.

This morning on the main sport magazine here in Italy, La Gazzetta dello Sport, there is an interview with Belinelli, where he explains why he decided to join the Kings. Some main points of what he says:

- he's really happy to come to Sacramento
- he says that when Valde Divac and George Karl want you, it's an honor
- he thinks that this is the right offer for him, after all the sacrifices he made during his career. From the bad years in Golden State and New Orleans, to the good year in Chicago and the 2 great seasons in San Antonio, an organization that he thanks for everything it gave him
- for the Kings he wants to be that important guy who brings his experience to the team. He also said he always had to fight during his career to prove people wrong (they used to say he couldn't play in the NBA), so this is the attitude he will bring to Sacramento
- he thinks this is a great challenge for him, a challenge he's ready to take at this point of his career, after he won the title in San Antonio

Nothing really special here, but I wanted to share with you his first interview as a King.

Waiting for the scouting report update on Belinelli. I don't know much about his game, is his defense that bad?
I'm not sure...

EDIT: Here's a link to a story about him: http://hoopshabit.com/2015/05/24/san-antonio-spurs-marco-belinelli-fill-potential-danny-green-void/

from the article:
"At 29 years old, Belinelli is probably about as good as he’s ever going to be. He’s not a very good defender, and the Spurs would be downgrading in a major way on that end of the floor. Belinelli’s 105.1 defensive rating was the worst among all Spurs who actually got regular minutes."

"Per NBA.com, opponents shot nearly three percent better on all shots they took when defended by Belinelli."- you can compare that to Ben which opponents shot 0.1% better than usual on, he is clearly a better defender than Belinelli.

Not a good defender, but a decent player all around...

Pretty bad as general rule. Coach Pop fit Belinelli in shooting offensive niche but integrated him into Spurs strong D concepts which is never bad - especially for guy with such excellent B-ball IQ.

great signing. i was hoping we'd pick him up when we had reke as a extra ball handler and marksman. he's played under both thibs and pop so he has defensive fundamentals down.
