Peja Stojakovic and Kevin Martin scored 15 points apiece, and Kenny Thomas had 11 points and nine rebounds in the Sacramento Kings' 114-99 exhibition victory over the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night.

Bonzi Wells added 11 points for the Kings, who jumped out to a 19-point lead in the second quarter and stretched it to 23 shortly after halftime while making more than 60 percent of their shots. Sacramento's up-tempo offense was impressive, with Wells and Shareef Abdur-Rahim taking on more of the Kings' aggressive mind-set with each preseason game.

Baron Davis had 22 points and six assists in the Warriors' first exhibition game back on the mainland after training camp and two games against the Lakers in Hawaii. Troy Murphy had 15 points and eight rebounds as the Warriors played without guard Jason Richardson, who missed the game for personal reasons.

Sacramento coach Rick Adelman is in no hurry to choose a starting power forward. After Thomas started the exhibition opener against Dallas, Abdur-Rahim started Friday's victory over the Clippers -- and both forwards started against the Warriors, with center Brad Miller coming off the bench.

The Kings look deep behind Wells, with rookie Francisco Garcia adding 13.

Andris Biedrins, the Warriors' 19-year-old Latvian big man, had three points in 16 minutes. Golden State coach Mike Montgomery hopes the youngster is ready to play significant minutes as a backup to center Adonal Foyle, particularly while rookie Ike Diogu is out with a broken hand.

Rookie forward Chris Taft, who missed much of training camp and the Warriors' first two exhibitions with a strained groin, made his Golden State debut with four points in eight minutes.

Mickael Pietrus started in Richardson's spot, scoring eight points. -- By Greg Beacham, AP Sports Writer

Looking at the stats (since I saw nothing of the game and heard about 1/4 of it, grumble grumble)....

Starters (and Martin) were held to 21 or 22 minutes, with Garcia the only guy getting more at 25 min. Looks like he had a pretty solid game apart from the 2 TOs, did it look that way to those who watched?

I think this win seperates the Kings from the medicore status we were at the end of last year to a more elite division.

haha, if only preseason games meant beans....i really wish they did because then that would mean San Antonio is going to suck....hard

True, but before we were being compared to teams like GS, Memphis...

Overall the game was pretty postive, few more kinks to be worked on, but from watching tonight it didn't look like many!

what does that make the spurs and grizzlies? the spurs are 0-4 and the grizz are 3-0.... will the grizz be contending for a championship.... i doubt that the spurs will miss the playoffs....

I assume he meant by how the team is starting to gel.

They could. ;)

Grizzlies I think are going to make the playoffs again, just not get swept this time (not based on their pre-season). Also, will be a good, competitive team. More vets, a full season with the coach, an improving Gasol, and still deep and versatile. BTW, I never heard or read us being compared to the Grizzlies all summer or this month.

What I got from the game is that our second unit this year is going to bring a LOT of energy onto the court. I like the dynamics of Kevin and Garcia playing together, and it's pretty obvious they're working on a lot of stuff in practice. Jason Hart is arguably the find of the year. What a great backup for Bibby. Along with Kevin and Cisco, Hart brings youth, energy, athleticism, desire, and drive that is fantastic to watch.

Yes, it's only pre-season but at least tonight's game gave reason for hope.

Am I the only one who is really thrilled with Bonzi's ability to play with his back to the bucket?

We have POST players. PLURAL!!!

This team might or might not gel together and make it a season to remember but it's gonna be one that is at least entertaining and exciting.

GO KINGS!!!!

Agreed VF. Martin/Garcia will both be very good for us, and fun to watch develop chemistry with eachother and the team. As it's been so far, I'd assume by what I've read.

I knew Hart would be really good for us as soon as we signed him :).

No, you're not (on Bonzi), as I've seen it a bunch in the past. Just not with the Kings yet. ;)

yes i love that RA is playing Garcia and Martin together...and they are playing very well together so far

also, i haven;t be able to "see" any games, but from the radio, hart seems to have a lot of hustle and might be the best defensive player on the whole kings roster (which is a tad bit sad)

also, its not jsut you VF, we know that bonzi is definitely a post player, he needs to stay in the post and score in bunches like he did in his best years at portland....not go out on the perimeter and miss jumpers like he did with Memphis. we have enough jump shooters

anyway, can't wait to actually "see" the kings on their game televised on BSPN

Yeah, Bonzi doesn't need to shoot long jumpers (he can with the mid-range though). He's never been known for that anyways, or is a very good one. We have Bibby/Peja/Brad/Garcia/Thomas who are good from longer distances. :)

Dont forget Shareef, he can shoot mid and step out and shoot the 3 ball.

Yeah I know mid for SAR, but I didn't think, nor have I heard or read about his longer range being a quality. edit: For 3P shooting (long range doesn't just mean that of course), he's 30 percent career and 146-477.

I honestly haven't seen a lot of SAR because the teams he's on were bad, thus not getting much cable tv airings (A handful last year on ESPN/TNT, for most recently), and those teams of course didn't make the playoffs.

Always happier when the Kings win, even in pre-season. I like the hustle and the effort on defense, especially from the youth on the team.
