Guess the Knicks didn't want him to blow them away anymore ;):

NEW YORK, October 6, 2005 – New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that free agent forward Matt Barnes has been signed to a contract. Terms of the deal are not disclosed.

Barnes, 6-7, 225-pounds, averaged 3.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 43 games for Sacramento and Philadelphia last season. The Citrus Heights, CA-native was traded from the Kings to the 76ers on Feb. 23, 2005 as part of a six-player deal. The training camp roster is now at 18.

Glad to see he a found a a place. Would of loved to see him back with Sac, but the TC roster showed that wasn't likely unless he got brought in after camp. I guess his contract is partially guaranteed or non, going by the last line.

This has been discussed tangentially in another thread in the Kings forum - at the bottom of the day 2 camp notes, I believe.

The information there was that he signed a one-year deal for the vet's minimum of $746,000.

I wish him well. I still hope to see him in a Kings uniform again at some point down the road. After all, it happened with Corliss...

;)

Not bad at all. I know he wanted to be in Sacramento and fans would have loved to have him. But I think he has to grow up and accept that the NBA is a business. He would have probably been better paid had he not clung on to his dream to play for Sacramento.

Anyways, I am sure that he will do great, if he gets some time. I don't know how much time he would get under Larry Brown, but if he does he will definitely do well.

Well best luck to Barnes.

And Matty ends up coming to the one town where he can earn $750,000 and end up being lower middle class. Not even sure if he can afford to live in the city on that salary. ;)
