Barnes cancels kings workout?

When parties conspire it's hard to figure out what's going on. If none of them come to Sacramento I bet Petrie figures out a way of calling the number he wants. Who doies he want?

I am getting a growing feeling that we're going to get screwed in this draft.

This is reminding me of the Cousins draft... where there was no way he'd be available at #5 when it all started and then the closer we got the better it looked. MKG here we come!!

Yea your right i'm getting the same feeling to. The truth is MKG is a hard working kid and everything but a top 4 pick i'm not so sure. He fits in here best because were not looking for any offense from him off the back the team scores fine.

Second time I heard he hurt his back!

I'm hearing Harrison Barnes may be in second place on their wish list. Apparently, MJ is a fan. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Bradley Beal are in the mix, too, though I'm told MKG didn't blow anyone away in his workout for the Bobcats on Monday and also hurt his back a little. ESPN.com

The Wizards really need shooting, which should give Beal or Barnes a leg up. But I continue to hear that Kidd-Gilchrist remains the favorite. It's very close. ESPN.com

There are so many smoke screens lately, I have heard everything from Beal was horrible and GM's are scared to he's the next Ray Allen (I hate crunch time).

For the 5th time, I will say that teams value offense over defense and MKG is not an offensive machine. We need defense and not offense so outside of Davis the big defender is MKG. I also suspect Drummond is going to be very difficult to pass above us. May not make any difference.

This made me smile.
If indeed Barnes and Beal got promise in the top 4, this leaves T-Rob, Drummond, and MKG possibly available to us.

All 3 players fits our need and I could leave the room the draft day smiling if either of these kids goes to Sacramento.

That's what we need, another guard. /sarcasm off

How do you solve the problem of having only three players over 6'6" assuming, of course that we resign JT which is not a guarantee? Use Hassan off the bench?

Look trades will happen and that is one way to get it done. As we are currently constructed, we have to make deals just so we can sign our 2 draft picks and bring back JT and possibly T-Will.

I would like Lowry as I reckon he would be a great fit but, in this case, then 2 or 3 of other guards become expandable, especially the undersized ones as Lowry is no giant. I could see great things with Lowry-Evans backcourt but you are correct in saying the front court needs beefing up in a big way.

Lowry is no Jimmer and IT is dirt cheap by nba levels. Lowry and Evans in the backcourt will be great! If we need some buckets sub in IT/MT/Salmons and Outlaw to stretch the 4.

If MKG is not available, who do you pick, Drummond or Robinson?

Robinson. Can't question his energy or intensity. May be a little small, but you have to believe he'll put the work in to be a very good player. Can't say the same for Drummond.

So what you want is small ball. I don't like that idea and the reasons have been given over and over.

Robinson without question. He's essentially Drummond in a 6'9 PF body athletically, 6'9 is perfectly fine in today's NBA for a PF (especially with his wing span/hops), he's a fierce competitor and goes 100% all the time, he's the best rebounder in the draft, he can hit a 15-18 foot jumper (even made 7 of 14 3's last season), and he will likely walk into the NBA next season with the ability to score 13-14 points as a rook. He's not a shot-blocker, but he's a good post defender with the potential/athleticism/work ethic to become great at the end. Best of all, I would love to see the look on other team's faces when they have to deal with Robinson and Cousins on the low-block. I'll be honest, this guy looks like what Amare offensively who's not afraid to be use his physical body to bang and rebound at a high level

Best case scenario: Better defending Blake Griffin/Amare Stoudimire
Worst case scenario: Paul Milsap

I challenge someone to show me a video of Drummond showcasing even a fraction of what Robinson did in this video.

Barnes worked out for the Raptors the day before he was scheduled to work out for the Kings. I think most likely he got a promise from Toronto - meaning he is in the running for #3 and #4, and will fall no further than #8. Also, #6 (Portland) already has a starting SF, and #7 (Golden State) has four scorers in the lineup; are not good destination for Barnes. Obviously #5 needs a SF but he probably weighted Sacramento and Toronto and said to himself, "If I fall pass #4, I'd rather play for the Raptors!"

This smack of 2008 when Anthony Randolph refused to workout for the Kings after he got a promise from the Warriors (drafting two spots below the Kings), but at that time strongly in the running for #7 to the Bucks.

At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I don't think Lowry/Evans/T-WIll/JT/CUZ is small ball.

I was going by your comment that we could use IT/MT/Salmons and Outlaw to stretch the 4 if we needed buckets. Certainly if our normal starting lineup is on the floor, the subs will not be as big. That situation worries me alot.

If MKG is available we better dam well take him thats all i can say. He's going to fall to us. Pull the trigger GP. We can get a defensive big man lower in the draft

My list is:

1. MKG
2. Robinson
3. Barnes
4. Drummond
5. Beal

But I'm just going based on what I read about each player's strengths, size and potential, and how I feel it'd fit with our team. I'm not a follower of college ball so I won't pretend that my list is educated or worth anyone's time.

We need a real SF to get to the playoffs. We are going to need a shotblocker to contend.

If we can only get a SF or a shotblocker this summer we have to get the SF. MKG would be exactly what we need.

What would be great is if we could trade up in this draft and get two first round picks. Trade next years first and this years second for a pick 6 thru 11. We can pick up MKG or Robinson and pick up a big like drummond, meyers, hensen etc.

We can't trade next years first round pick (remember the Casspi-Hickson trade). Also, we don't need more prospect, we already have more than enough players. We need some trade to fix the roster.

And it would be a lot of fun to see our guards throw a few lob passes to Robinson for dunks. This guy can finish. I'd love to see him in a Kings uni. The "unbelievable" scenario of Robinson and MKG both being available for the Kings is starting to look more believable.

i dont know you, but i hate you just a little bit for this post. i didnt think about a raptors promise but this theory makes sense. so thank you throwing some more doubt into my hope for mkg being a king :p

I'm going to say this just once. If anyone thinks that these individual workouts of the top players is a deciding factor, their crazy. All these teams have scouted all the top players to death. Each team has tons of scouting reports sitting there along with video. Every team knows what MGK or Beal, or Drummond can and can't do. If these individual workouts mean anything, its about fit. What might seperate one player from another as for as fitting best with your team. Its also about seperating the person from the player. Getting to know him, and see how he accepts different ideas.

If a Beal comes in and doesn't shoot the ball particularly well, but shot the ball well at his last stop, just what does that mean? Nothing!!!!! You've seen this kid play all year. You know whether he can shoot the ball or not. What you might get surprised about is finding out that he can do some things you didn't know about.

This is lie time in the NBA. No one is going to give you a straight answer. Its mostly just one big smoke screen.
