Bargain Hunting Watch

Timberwolves will need shooting in the future and will want youth and are reported to be sellers really soon.
How bout k.martin/t.young for
Nik/Landry/DWill /ray.

Our bench instantly become very good with 2 scoring players in Martin/young. Also adds 3point shooting and more importantly swapping young and landry gives a youth at that position.

A back up PG we could look at is Phil Pressey while his shooting is not good and he's small the guy puts defensive pressure on you end to end and is a crafty playmaker who with his passing can make others better.

Seeing how badly Nick and Ramon are struggling and how hard it is for our bench to score (don't get me started on the D) makes me wonder why we didn't keep MarShon Brooks.

Perhaps we thought Nik would get better. Rookies tend to be a bargain, also.

Brooks is everything that this organization doesn't want and worked hard to remove - selfish ballhog who takes bad shots. He will shoot you out of games more often than he will win you games.

This is certainly a guy i would take a look at. I believe he is a FA after this season and most likely would be cheap. He shot way better in preseason btw. So there is some hope, that his shot isn't unfixable.

ah, I disagree, in fact they invited him to their summer league roster and he definitely wasn't a "selfish ballhog"

Then you and I must have watched different summer league games.

Even back then, after Brooks had several very good games, I predicted he will get cut.

Since the suns have a billion point guards, I would love to have Ennis. He's a pass first PG who is fundamentally sound. I don't know who we have that they want. Maybe take back a bad contract like PJ Tucker?

I like what I have seen from Ennis

I wonder if Philly who badly need a shooter would be a Tony Wrotten for Nik Staskus swap maybe throw in D-Will and get LRMAM back here.

I think it's too early to give up on Nik. But we do need some outside shooting. Too bad we gave up Wayne Ellington, who the last time I checked was shooting over 40 percent from three. I wasn't also too thrilled giving up Luc for Williams, but I am liking williams' play as of late.

Williams for Luc at the time was good but than trading for Rudy kind of made it terrible.

I am not worried about Nik. When he settles down, I think his shooting skills will become obvious and open up our offense. He's supposed to be a bit of a playmaker also. We'll see.

Reports out of Washington that the Wizards are trying to trade Glen Rice jr. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...izards-shopping-glen-rice-jr-on-trade-market/

Could he be a option to backup Rudy at the 3 next season?

Probably not, for a few reasons. First, he is a shooting guard. He almost has the size to guard 3's but not the strength. Second, he has been very underwhelming thus far, as in D-League may be his ceiling. Tough to say for certain as he is only in his second year in the league, but I haven't seen anything from him that tells me he is a NBA level player. I would rather not take on projects like that when there are better, equally cheap players available in the offseason. In any case, Casspi seems to be a more than adequate bargain backup for Rudy.

Thanks. I also wonder how much Casspi will command as a FA. in any case thanks for the info because all I have seen from jr is zhis summer league stint.

I would guess that Casspi gets a small pay bump, but his services aren't currently being sought by many teams to my knowledge. Combine that with his underwhelming performance with Houston and Cleveland, and his request that New Orleans waive him so he could play for Sacramento and I think the Kings could bring him back for very little.

Per the Boston Globe, Dalembert may be waived by the Knicks. Assuming he clears waivers, that would fix a lot of the frontcourt depth problems if he can contribute off the bench.
