When are the Kings considered playoff worthy?

At what point in the season, IF our record remains somewhere similar to what it is now percentage wise, do we say the Kings have a legitmate shot at the available p****ff spot/s? Although, I can agree with most of you thinking p****ffs are out of the realistic grasp of this team. However, if we continue our recent play, at some point it's going to become a realistic possiblity. So I have added a poll just to get your opinions...

I don't understand this poll. Are you asking what we think the probability of them making the playoffs is? Are those numbers percentages?

No. I have seen others posting that we're only .500 and we have only beaten the bad teams. So, if we continue to hover around .500, at what point does it become evident that we may actually have a shot at the playoffs? I already know the probability is slim...

Edit: Those numbers are games into the season.

Um...since the only way we remain .500 is if we start beating playoff teams, on the road, instead of lottery teams at home, I would say after we start doing that consistently. Whenever that might be.

I can see us getting to the playoffs when the wussy Hawes gets traded for a good defensive center. ;)

I actually see this team going all the way to the playoffs now, if Hawes doesn't shoot any 3's and if he plays like a true center with balls. Hawes is the weakest link in our starting line-up right now.

I understand your point and how you tried to drive it home by saying we beat lottery teams at home. But Houston wasn't a lottery team and Utah wasn't a lottery team and it was on the road. Just sayin. facts kinda get in the way of your mini rant.

Easy friends.
Again, I'm gonna compare the kings to the 9ers. They have a young team who may be getting a little fat on bad teams and a few good ones. They will come back to earth much like the 9ers did against the Falcons. However I am plenty suprised at what I'm seeing from our younguns.

Or the SF Giants.

4 win streak has given the youngsters some confidence and has done them good...

I watched the team preview of the kings here and with the so called "experts" and "secret scout" saying we will struggle. esp when kev martin is out.. boy are they wrong...

its too early to call out... but i really feel good about this team right now... i havent felt like this about our team since..... well.. adelman days.

what i noticed in the rockets game was the excellent passing.. give and take hawes had a bad shooting.. the players have shown heart and hustle, also the good decision making. i hope this keeps up.

I picked 40 games into the season. If the Kings are 22 and 18 I think they would have earned consideration as a possible playoff team. That will be the middle of January and KMart should just about be ready to return.

I screamed about Brad Miller like this... but he was a 30 something year old, fairy princess who had his entire career to prove that he could man up, and he failed. Lets give Hawes a few more years before we start screaming he's garbage.

Id say we have a shot at making the playoffs if we're atleast the 8th seed by all star break. Then we'd actually have a chance. However, it probably wont happen.

I think it's waaaaaaay to early to even be whispering "playoffs" let alone actually speaking it out loud.

Having said that, however, if the Kings are still above .500 60 game into the season, everyone in the NBA is going to be talking about it.

We beat 4 teams that wont be in the playoffs and all of a sudden, this thread comes into existence. We beat some of the worst WC teams. One we beat the Nuggets and sweep the Lakers, then we might be able to talk about playoff "worthy". did anyone else notice tyreke shake the living daylights out of that sad soul on Houston? If he finishes that play, he gets western conference player of the week.

Well, I would say that Utah is considered a playoff team. Houston is borderline. The Thunder were given a shot at making the playoffs by the pundits before the season began. whatever thats worth. Bottom line though, is that every team the Kings have beaten was considered better than them.

But, back to the orginal question. I voted not this year. This team is just too young and inexperienced. Now if we beat the Bulls on tuesday. And then go on this three game road trip and win two out of the three. Then I'll revisit my opinion. But I would be shocked, and estaticaly happy if were were able to accomplish that.

BUT, 2 of those teams were playoff teams last year. IE Houston and Utah. With the hornets sucking it up so far thats 3 teams dropping off big time. If they continue their current play that opens the door for teams to move in. The wolves, griz and warriors are stinking it up. That leaves the clips, thunder and kings as teams that can have a shot to move up.

Realistically not this year. However, given the question as posed, I would say that if we are still at 0.500 after 60 games I would consider the playoffs to possibly be within reach (if that meant we were hovering around/within striking distance of the 8th spot).

Houston could well be a lottery team by the end -- they are the least talented team in the NBA. Winning by smoke, mirrors, and spirit. And Utah was playing awfully and fell to soemthing like 2-4 after we beat them. And these things happen -- you run into teams struggling. New Orleans has sruggled. Even San Antonio has struggled. Those teams should be good in time, but 9 games into the season we haven't faced a power tema playing anythign likie a power team. And we are spending life at Arco where homecourt really helps young teams. We really haven;t tested our hustle game against one of the league's well oiled machines yet.

Absolutely. That was awesome. That's the kind of thing that make him so fun to watch. The guy had no ankles by the time Reke was done. Does anyone have that clip? Anywere on youtube?
