Assists/Turnover stats since Bibby's return + other stats.

OK.. We all know that the Kings were just horrid and pretty much at the bottom of the league when it came to assists per game, and turnovers. This might surprise a lot of you but since Bibby's return we have went from HORRIBLE to pretty damn good when it comes to assisted baskets and protecting the ball.

BEFORE Bibby was back from injury the Kings in 36 games had averaged;
17.9 assists per game (RANKED #30)
16.6 turnovers per game (RANKED #29 or #30)

AFTER Bibby returned from injury the Kings are averaging (in 8 games);
22.6 assists per game (RANKED #9)
15.8 turnovers per game (RANKED #27)

Since Bibby is starting the Kings are averaging (in 5 games);
23.4 assists per game (RANKED #5)
14.6 turnovers per game (RANKED #13)

Pretty much since Bibby has returned the Kings are now averaging near the top in the league in assists per game again as a team (from DEAD LAST), and about the middle of the pack in turnovers per game from about dead last (taken into account that we have gotten better since Bibby has gone to full time starter).

**100+ points scored 6 out of 8 times with 5 out of 6 of the 100+ point outputs as wins.

**5-3 since Bibby return ; 2-0 home ; 3-3 road

I am still open to trading Bibby, but he's probably not top on my list of players to get rid of at the moment unless we want to go back to that horrible 17 assists to 16 turnovers per game :(:mad::(

EDIT: Forgot about this, but Bibby's assists alone haven't caused this upswing. Bibby has a knack for hitting an open player, and it's up to that open player to hit a 2nd guy, or take the shot. Been seeing a lot more of that recently which is a nice change of pace. Artest seems to have gotten into the passing groove again.

The eight games Bibby has been back we have averaged;
22.6 assists per game to 15.8 turnovers

**CHA-SEA-LAC-UTH-DET-TOR-IND-NJN
combined record as of todays date of 165-195 .458%

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The previous SEVEN games before Bibby returned we averaged;

18.8 assists per game to 17.7 turnovers

**DAL-IND-MEM-ORL-CHI-CLE-NYK
combined record of 149-168 .470%

It's ok to say we are a better team in regards to assists, and turnovers since Bibby has returned Piksi, nobody will be upset with you.

It's a small sample, but it's worth noting, and may be meaningful in the long run this season. It's not at all surprising that the return of a veteran point guard with big game experience would help a young, struggling team with an inexperienced point guard to move the ball better and turn it over less.

But you also have to keep in mind the fact that Kevin and Ron came back at the same time that Bibby did, so to credit him for the improvement without mentioning the other two is sort of "selective stat-keeping", if you will.

Very interesting!

I agree. Mike hasn't been making very many assists per game, as noted above, and his assist/TO ratio has not been special, so Kevin and Ron can't be ruled out as causes. I guess we'll have a better idea after the trade deadline, when at least one of those variables will probably be eliminated.

Ron has a 4.1 to 2.7 a/t
K-Mart has a 2 to 2 a/t

It's such a small sample because Bibby hasn't played but only eight games. I tried to put together a sample that was similar in nature and saw than the seven games prior to Bibby returning were about as close as it got re: east vs. west teams, and opponents records.

What's amazing is that the Kings went from last in both categories to middle of the road with a vet PG. For all those who want Bibby out I would re-think that.. We have a SF that should be on his way out first.
