Artest's agent on 1140

I only heard part of the interview but basically he said Artest is excited and looking forward to playing in Sac. He said that Sac is one of the places that Artest always wanted to be traded to. He also said, when asked that the trade never "went sideways" it was going to happen, but that Artest wanted to talk to the Maloofs and make sure they weren't giving up on the season. He said that Artest is an excellent player, and that the Kings record will improve with him on the team.

Obviously the guy is completely changing his story, but hey, he's Artest's agent, so I guess it's expected. How does Artest wanting to talk to the Maloofs translate into the comments that were made "Artest didn't want to play in Sacramento.. and he doesn't want to play there now"?? lol

I heard part of it, I don't really like his agent. I remember Reggie Miller made a comment on tnt about his agent a while back, saying that his agent was basically feeding Ron garbage and bad information and Ron being Ron listening to him. Do I disagree with Reggie? No. Of course, I don't remember who all actually quoted his agent about the "no desire to play in Sac". The only person I can remember specifically is Stephen A Smith(who I hate, this guy's crazier than Ron AND his agent). I doubt it came from Ron(his agent was probably trying to get him to play in a bigger market?), but I really have no idea what to believe anymore.

The important thing for the Kings, and this will be lesson #1 of many, is that you never pay attention to what Ron (or his agent) says now that he is on your team. Ron is there now and on board so don't pay any attention to what was said a few days ago that seems to contradict everything that's happened since. Whatever he says, nod your head, say "Sure Ron" and move on to something more productive.

You know...rather than racking your brains trying to figure out if he does or doesn't want to play here, I would just let time go by and let actions speak for themselves. It aint worth it.

Honestly I think Artest's agent was part of the problem in this trade. He said a lot of things on behalf of Ronk that has name on them all over in print. Then the next day he backs off of his comments, after the Pacers and Kings talk to Ron face to face. The organizations were told by Ron's agent things Ron never said.

I hate Artest's agent. First he says he dosen't want to have anythin to do with Sactown, now he says that he's really excited to be here. I don't know, I'm just really skeptical about the whole thing and I just have a feeling that Artest is gonna blow up again within a few months.

He is an agent... That means he is a guy who felt that practicing law had too many ethical rules and that selling used cars was for amature liars. Sports agents are essentially parisitic pond scum and high end professional liars... why would you expect ANYTHING he said to be truthfull? Expediant... sure, to make his client look good... of course... what people wnat to hear... if it's convinet, but the truth? only by accedent.

NOONE knows for sure what Ron said, I just look forward to moving on.

BMiller52 is right...Stephen A. Smith was the one that "reported" what Artest's agent said about Sac and the Kings. Personally, I think Smith injected his own interpretation and exaggerated like he usually does. Do I believe Sac was Ron's first choice? No. Probably LA or NY, but whats done is done, I don't believe that the Kings were a team that Ron ever said he never wanted to go to. All of the big media losers like Greg Anthony, Marc Stein, and Stephen A Smith wanted him in LA or NY so they could have more access to him.

Bingo.

And to make matters even worse, he's a rookie agent (from what I've read in numerous places) so he's not even good at being parasitic pond scum yet.

;)

Give him time. He'll develop.

You had me at "parasitic pond scum".

Just to add to what has already been said:

-This is the second interview he--I think his name is Stevens--has done with Sacramento radio. His first one with Koz he came out sounding as delusional as any agent I have ever heard. One woman called in and actually said he sounded like an "illiterate thug!"

-In this interview Whitey said that he was confused because he was saying in his interview that Ron had always wanted to come to the Kings, that when he initially made his trade request the Kings were one of the teams on a list they gave to Pacer's brass. But, what about the things that were reported and even the comments he made to ESPN that Ron never wanted to come to Sacramento and doesn't want to now. The agent said that it wasn't that he didn't want to come to Sacramento, he always did, but what he was talking about the "old" Kings and they certainly aren't the Kings of old anymore....Yeah, wasn't buying that either. Besides, were they completely oblivious of the Kings record THIS year when he made his trade request THIS year?

-He said that Ron was contacted/wanted by 17 teams

-I think Brick said it best, all agents need to be taken out back and shot.

I think that is probably the best solution for us as Kings fans...to keep our sanity as fans with the two of them, anyways.;)
