Artest: 'We're just fine'

MICHAEL GRANGE
Globe and Mail Update

Toronto — Toronto Raptor fans hopeful that their club is poised to continue their winning ways with a win at home against the visiting Sacramento Kings tonight should first listen to Ron Artest.

While the Kings [14-21] might seem like easy pickings, having lost their last six games, the mercurial forward says things are about to change.

"We're not struggling, we're just fine," said Artest. "We're not struggling; we're going to win now. We were just playing around a little bit."

The Kings handled the Raptors [18-21] easily when teams met in Sacramento in early November, a win that improved their record to 4-2 and had some observers pegged as a certain playoff team in the Western Conference.

and after the game he said..."At the end of the season, everybody is gonna see the real kings team."

Sounds to me like the cocky guy that talks crap to you that he can beat you in basketball. Then when you whoop his *** 1on1 he goes "Alright man I was just playing around now I'm going to play for real" and then when he loses again "Man I don't know what's up with my shot today, normally I hit those shots like nothing and starts flexing his wrist and wincing" All the time never admitting that he got beat and that he really sucks...

I think it's a matter of time until Ron Artest is traded. I would think Geoff Petrie realizes the Artest+Bibby combo isn't exactly working out the way he had predicted. and the offense here just simply does not fit ron artest. and in addition, he's not happy here.

Uh-oh this seems to be set in stone in Ron's head right now. He continually repeats phrases something like; "we haven't started playing yet", or "you will all see the real Kings team at the end of the season. Well Ron, half the season is almost over and you won't be able to keep on saying things like this. Ron seems to be sure that the Kings will even make the playoffs, I'm just afraid of Ron if we don't.

PS: I know you're not supposed to listen to anything that Ron Artest says but, he has just been saying this over and over.

Ron's just a nut sometimes. Makes him look like a roll your eyes sideshow that unfortunately leaves himself open to a lot of ridicule. He is at least playing hard, but don't see much of anybody buying the goofy fantasy this time barring something drastic.

My sarcas-o-meter is pretty sensitive and it seems that Ron is using a passive aggressive ploy to get himself traded w/o making himself look blatantly disruptive. There's no way he's serious, even though he's indisputably wacky. This is the 3rd or 4th time that I've read similar comments from him after a loss. If he came out and bashed his teammates, coaches, mgmnt, his odds of Sac finding a suitable trade for him are only gonna be lessened.

i used to hate missing kings games. now i hate watching them
Then don't. You won't be alone.

NO ONE is happy with the way things are right now, unless they suffer from some kind of sado-masochistic problem. Yet, even so, some of us are finding a way not to simply throw ourselves on the floor and sob...

it's called the oden/durant/noah sweepstakes. :) just the chance for the kings to get in a position where they have no choice but to pick someone other than a versatile combo guard slash wing player has me giddy.
