I realize we've gone over this, repeatedly, for over a year now.

I just heard Dan Patrick say that Artest is demanding a trade because Carlisle isn't using him offensively(no, not fan punching) enough. Reggie Miller will be on shortly to report on it.

Could we package KevMart/Corliss/Skinner or Cisco/KT/Skinner for Artest and another player/pic?

I know this thread will probably get merged with the other one going in the NBA section, but big news, Indiana just announced their intention of trading Artest.

Pacers to try to trade Artest

Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS -- Ron Artest wants to be traded, and Indiana Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh said Monday he'll try to do that.

Artest said in interviews with various media over the weekend that he wants to be traded, that his past haunts him in Indianapolis and that the team would be better off without him.

Walsh said he didn't like Artest speaking to the media first, but would try to trade him. Walsh said Artest's desire to move on wasn't the only factor in the team's decision.

"This is kind of the last straw of a lot of issues, and it's at the point where we should look for a trade," Walsh said.

He said Artest remains on the roster but is inactive with pay for the rest of the week.

Artest missed 73 games and all the playoffs last season after his suspension by the NBA for triggering the brawl with fans in Detroit.

Artest, who leads the league in steals and is the Pacers' second-leading scorer at 19.4 points a game, has missed the past two games with a sore right wrist. He was not available for comment at Monday's practice.

Indiana is 12-7 and has the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.

"We have a good roster with good players on the roster," Walsh said. "I think they'll appreciate not having this in the middle of their season."

so who would start? would you bring bonzi off the bench or something? because with your trade proposal we would still have bonzi and peja..... the pacers arent that dumb though.....

already a topic about it...

Anyways, I was thinking yesterday that it'd happen today. Especially if we trade peja for ron. Yesterday we had a game, and correct me if I'm wrong, but if we traded peja yesterday, ron AND peja couldn't have played and we'd be a man short.

Artest might be a player we need but he is not a person we need.

His trade value is really down at the moment

I'd much rather have someone who hustles and actually givers a sh!t over Peja any day of the week.

If this deal went through, the Kings would be ripping the Pacers off. Bird might think he can reform Peja, but he's just not that kind of player, he doensn't it bad enough. Peja will always be a one-dimensional scorer who disappears in the 4th quarter because he's scared and doesn't want to be the man.

Yeah and Bibby will always be the guy who can't defend and run the team and get schooled by a rookie

Brad will always be the guy that can't get a rebound and jump etc

and so on and so on.

Artest will always be the guy who causes trouble on and off the court. You will never know wheather You wil have him for a game or half a season or not at all. Just go to any of the Pacers sites and see what they think.

Pacers supportet the guy when he got suspended and that is how he repays them.

I don't want him PERIOD

I'm not sure about that.

Given Artest's history, including the rather bizarre timing of his most recent comments any team is taking a HUGE gamble on aquiring him. It's not an issue of his talent. However, it's hard for me to imagine a team giving up young talent to aquire the guy. Artest is one outburst of being out of the league. It's not a matter of a guy controlling his temper or mouth. I think there's an issue that he has a mental illness which he may or may not be able to manage.

As an organization you just have to accept the risk that come with him. Also, didn't he say he wanted to retire in two years?
