Artest is still here.........someone drive him to the airport! he has a flight on thursday.
You know Ron is a Math major, so he probably looked at math of it already.
What Ron says really doesn't matter. I don't dislike him, but I hope he's traded before the deadline. Unfortunately, I can't see GP moving two of our starters in the space of a few days. Just don't resign Ron at the end of the year.
It's not our choice. Artest has a player's option.
Isn't it relatively common for a player to opt-out to test the waters and then re-sign if they want to come back? Or am I being crazy? If that was the case, I hope we wouldn't re-sign him. I still think he'll opt out once he gets the shock of a lifetime (us not winning the NBA this year)!
If he opts out. I think there are only two teams with cap space available to offer him a contract higher than the MLE; Philadelphia and I forget who. As it has been established he is a lunatic, it requires that his lunacy extends to the point where money is of no concern to him anymore.
He not only must be willing to accept the $3 mil cut in the first year by taking the MLE, it also means he must be willing to forfeit establishing his Bird Rights which in the long run can cost him 10's of millions of dollars in his life time.
All kidding aside, I think Artest has a serious mental disorder.
Glenn, do you not think it's a strong possibilty that he'll opt-out? I know it's Ron, but I don't think he'd have strongly indicated he'd opt out if it wasn't a serious possibility. Don't forget the possibility of a sign and trade...
Now that his main combatant on the team, Bibby, is gone, he sees the team making an investment in him. I think this is very important to Ron Ron. We all have pride and Ron is no different or perhaps is more prideful than most.
