Artest rejected the deal!?!?

I think Peja already knew he was trade bait.

This is gonna be very interesting, tonight and on the rest of the road trip.

Peja has his future in his hands. He can withdraw, feeling rejected, etc. OR he can step up and prove himself better than we were giving him credit for.

All in all, however, this truly sucks. No one should have to go through the kind of emotional roller-coaster I'm sure Peja has been experiencing all day. It's just not right...

I know. I'm more than a little disappointed at how this was handled. You'd think, if you were GP, and knew you were dealing with a very volatile personality in Ron Artest, you would try to find out if he'd be willing to come here BEFORE you let the trade news get out. Because you know that Artest is the type of player where if he says he's not going to show up, he just won't. period. end of story.

This really does suck. The emotional whiplash for Peja has got to be brutal, and it's really unfair.

I guess we will have to see how Peja plays it. I'd like to think he would get a chip on his shoulder (for once) and come out to prove to GP he's wrong, but I'm afraid he might just go further into his shell.

u know what, after all these games artest is playin w/ everybody....I DONT WANT HIM ON THE KINGS..shoot!...this is embarassing....he has no room to be picky with his dumb tail...I dont want him at all!!!!!!..freak!..ok I'm done ranting

i would love to think that peja is gonna start playing with intensity, but who are we fooling? he's still soft. he needs to go.

This is stupid, why dosen't Petrie pull the trigger then make a deal with another team if he dosen't wanna be here. I don't understand this...

Wow, I kind of thought the Artest implosion would occur AFTER he got to Sacramento, not before. He's quick!!

Petries gamble may already have backfired in his face before Artest even got here? One mistake after another....

From Gary Gerould, when they left the hotel Peja was still there trying to get a flight to Sacramento.

On the bus over (with Mike, KT and maybe Brad on there), he says there were a lot of raised eyebrows, disbelief and a what is going to happen now feeling.

ESPN is talking about it now, Sac pulled out after hearing Artest say he's not coming to the Kings. This is really stupid- Artest has just proven that he is nowhere near ready to play basketball for anyone. All the talk about being willing to play just got taken apart. Jim Grey is saying they should consider suspending him without pay, and that sounds about right. He just totally ruined 2 teams plans, not to mention screwing Peja's career (and almost guaranteeing that he's walking for free this offseason). I never believed him (Artest) per se, but I just don't believe any athletes are benevolent great people, just that they'll come to play in general. I never thought I'd see anything like this. I would not be suprised if Ron gets supsended by the Pacers, maybe even by the league. It would be fitting if he was suspended for the rest of his contract without pay. 2 more years without boatloads of money would be a fitting end for his career.

You guys lucked out, Artest spared you his insanity.

I just wait this thing to end! I don't care if we get Pookie Peja in return, I'm just fed up with it.

Artest is the biggest piece of trash in the league. He should be thankful he has the god given talent to play in the league and should play wherever he's dealt.

In the end he's only hurting himself. By being so picky over when and where he plays, he'll only tarnish himself around the league. You'd think after being suspended over 70 games that he'd be willing to play wherever. You'd think if he had even a shred of intelligence in his pea-sized brain that he'd realize he'd be a major part of the offense under Rick Adelman and be able to take over since there isn't any real leader (one of the reasons he wanted out of Indy was the rigid structure of Carlisle).

This is disgusting. Basketball obviously isn't that important to him. After missing so many games, to still come out with something as ridiculous like this only shows that he just doens't give a rat's a$$.

I hope he tears an ACL and is never able to play ball ever again. That's the kind of karma someone of his pathetic caliber deserves.

At the very least, I'm glad Petrie tried to do the deal. I respect him for trying to do what was best for the team.

Excuse my signature, it'll be changed immediately.

Thats what I'm thinking. Why not take Artest and trade him for Maggette?

We should still do the deal than suspend him without pay just to punish him :D . Seriously what makes this retard think he can mess with every franchise in the NBA? Stern should BAN HIM FOR LIFE.

No. Kings did something smart, they couldn't have seen this coming. Ron Artest shot us in the gut.

the first thing I thought when I heard this was "will Artest really come here?" When you have a player as crazy as Artest, it'd probably be a good plan to see if he'd consider it BEFORE you announce a trade.

i agree he should be suspended... but how? hes not playing anyways. he just shouldnt be paid. where are u guys hearin that he rejected it? on espn... they're talkin bout football and mario lemuiex and on espnnews is ATH with the little box talkin about tiger woods

I don't know what to believe anymore, but if this is true, I am throughly embarrassed that I ever supported this trade, and I bow to the wisdom of everyone who knew better than I what a worthless prick this guy is.

what a soap opera....I guess I keep my icon now. :) Artest is a headcase, but I hope he doesnt land with the Lakers. Thats my only wish.

I can't believe they pulled out. He doesn't want to be here, you have a whole year to figure out where to send him. Now you just screwed with the team for nothing.

The Maloofs are idiots.

Do the friggin deal!!!!! Artest has no choice but to report. Once he gets to know his teammates, our great fans, he would change his attitude.

Just like Chris Webber did. He didn't want to come here either.

And if Artest was still a psycho prima donna nut-job, we ship him off somewhere else. The Warriors, Nuggets, Lakers, Knicks and plenty others all want this guy.

A 3-way trade to the Knicks for Nate Robinson and David Lee....these would be great additions to our roster.

This is disappointing the Maloofs are showing no spine.

You can add another thing to the Artest Timeline for today. What a total whacko. This dude wont move unless its for NY or the Cavs. So Indiana's only option is to get garbage back in return for this nut case. Kinda sad. I HOPE YOU GET ON THE SI COVER!!
