Artest interview

Nice read, B4T.
"I've played against two of the best in Joe Dumars and Michael Cooper, and Ron has those guys blown away," teammate Reggie Miller said. "That combination of strength and speed, that's a hard match for anybody."

Especially loved this quote. MJ always said the best defender he faced was Joe Dumars. Makes you think how Artest would have fared guarding MJ. I think MJ would've been too quick for Artest, but Ron would still try to keep him under 30 pts, or he could always break his ribs.;)

A few years back the story goes that during a summer league pickup game in Chicago where only players that MJ invited could play, Ron was guarding MJ and just to show him that he didn't care who he was and that he could be physical with anyone, Ron broke MJ's ribs.

Yep, I remember that.

He was flattered that LBJ had said he's glad he only has to play him twice. he's working on his conditioning. He loves the owners, players etc. he was well accepted in Sac. We will make the playoffs. It was hard starting off on the road. We can beat Mavs,Spurs in PO's. He said Pacers can beat Pistons in Po's. Pacers good without him, they're in transition. He's a team player, was frustrating being in Indiana, still friends with Jermaine. His defense on kobe won't be like that again. The they asked him about the second game and Ron thinks Dallas will do well in PO's but won't beat Spurs. Takes more pride in his defense but likes the offense also.
Sorry it was kind of disjointed but that was basically it.

You just gotta love his enthusiasm. Wow! :D

I like Ron more and more every day. I truly think the guy's got a bad rap. Obviously, he wears his emotions on his sleeve and can completely lose it at times. So can I, I just don't have cameras on me when it happens. He's just a normal guy with a passion for the game and amazing self-confidence, who was blessed with some incredible talent.

I can't sit by waiting for him to "blow up"...he hasn't even been T'd up yet as a King. He's done nothing since he came here to deserve people expecting him to snap. So I hereby refuse to.

He's changed the face of the team over 15 games and given all the guys a boost of confidence in themselves. I hope we build the entire franchise around the guy, if he's willing. We have an advantage in every single game, simply because he's on the court. It's that simple.

Here's to Ron, the man who revitalized our season and our team. Cheers!

I do think there may be something there with Ron. Not a speech impediment, but some people have a hard time getting their thoughts translated to the verbal. Nothing to do with how intelligent a person is, any more than a reading disability. But to me, it looks like he struggles sometimes to express himself. And sometimes it comes out wrong. Which can lead to unfortunate results when the media is hanging on every word and analyzing the meaning of every phrase ad naseum. (Fans too.)

i do the same thing because i think faster than my mouth can spit out the words. usually i have finished a sentence in my head before i finish saying it. its wierd.

yeah, i do that too. i really hate giving "impromptu" speeches or talking in front of a whole lot of people because everything that i say always sounds different than what i thought of in my head.

Good interview with Ron. I liked how he said nobody is going to want to face us in the 1st round of the playoffs. I also like how he feels like he has been on the team for years.

here is the direct link:

Thanks for posting that link....i got butterflies listening to ron say hes going to stun kobe..and we are going to make the playoffs. There hasn't been a player on our team besides C-Webb in a while thats been like...yea people should fear us.

And about the other thing...i think Ron handled that very very well...i was very impressed with his dimenear (sp), so whoever says otherwise, i disagree.

Dude, that is mean. It's called a speech impediment – if you had one you wouldn’t be making such an asinine comment .

He doesnt have a speech impediment.

Unlike the majority of NBA players who just spout off some boring B.S., and sound rehearsed and canned full of cliches and dull answers, Ron Artest actually tries to speak with substance, and express his true feelings, and give his honest analysis and assessment.

So he searches for the right words, and it takes him time to say what he wants to say.

I also think he gets a little nervous with the spotlight on him. So what.

I find his candor refreshing.

Bibby and Kenny Thomas and Peja before he was traded were downright boring interviews by comparison.
